Today just started my AVR for watching a movie, I just felt the subwoofer is not working. Checked with my hd media player as well as the bluray player.

I have found the subwoofer is not working. But I can see the power light glowing on the back of the subwoofer. I am confused the problem is with subwoofer or cable or AVR.

Hope you all can help me..

Thanks

Remove the subwoofer cable from avr and touch the pin using wet finger. Can you hear a thud sound?

I have not tried it. But normally while plugging the power cable of the subwoofer I get aa thud sound. But now iam not getting the sound.

disconnect from AVR, connect your ipod/mobile with a cable, see if you get a sound.[/QUOTE

You meant to connect the mobile with the subwoofer or AVR

connect the mobile output using a stereo to rca jacks cable. set the low pass filter to the highest value. play a song and see if you hear the bass of that song. if you hear music, your sub is working fine and the problem is elsewhere. if you dont, you sub has gone kaput.

While checking the subwoofer cable I have found the gold plate around the pin of the cable end has been removed. I am thinking this would be the problem for no sound from subwoofer.

If the cable is problem let me know which cable to buy. Will a digital coaxial cable will be fine for that.

awaiting your replies.

Thanks guys for your replies. I replaced with new subwoofer cable. Its now working fine. The problem is on the cable.:yahoo:
