Was looking to set up my first decent system for the last one year.Couldnt realise my dream mainly due to severe cash crunch.
Now looking to go the pre owned route.Budget is roughly 60k for amp+speakers.
Listen to a lot of Western and Indian classical. No Rock or Metal.Room is 17/13.
Suggestions and offers welcome.
Thanks.
ps:Auditions are not practical in Kerala and in any case I dont think I can make up my mind by listening for a few minutes in a shop.
I think I will like tube based setup.

For amps, I recommend you contact FM hi-fipal4all aka Ramesh Babu in Bangalore. He is a thorough gentleman and usually has great stuff available. I suggest you go in for new speakers unless you are sure about their sound, price, condition, vintage & history. But if you can, buy a pr of dual mono-blocks(diff wattages would do fine say 30 wpc & 50 wpc), throw in an active XO between them and your source, disconnect the passive XOs in your speakers(front ported or sealed bookshelves/towers with 4 terminals per spkr), bi-amp the set-up and feel the difference. The active XO costs abt 7-8k, abt 20-25k for the pre & monos, the rest of it for speakers, source & cables.
Must not go over 25k for speakers & 5k for source.

Just my two cents.

buddy you can go to hifi links kochi they deal in proac, wharfedale, epos, ae, energy, mordaunt short etc...60k is decent budget for a stereo setup.

Dude contact Bobby at hi fi demo room tvm.. He can help you a lot, the man knows what he is sellin!! Even auditions are possible..
Plus he knows the music too... At 60k he can hook you up with a decent system

i had once called the hifi demo room tvm to enquire about onkyo 3300 system and he promised he would give me a demo and we scheduled a date for the demo.
But since he had some installation at some other place , we rescheduled it. That was also postponed.
He promised to call me back whenever he was free to give an audition and then never heard from them. Weird!!!!

I was seriously looking to buy it from them.. but since there was no response from them, i added this amount also to get a superb ICE for my vento !!! hehe :)

Thanks all for the suggestions.
Although out of my budget would still like opinions about used cadence avita+va 1 amp. Will they work well in the humid Kerala weather.
I think a tube based setup will work well for me.

I think the cadence will suit your taste in music. Do enquire whether the ESL panels work in these humid conditions. I have heard that some of the panels had a problem in highly humid climate.

Is it the one being sold by vasu ? How do you propose to get it shipped to your place ? These speakers as well as the amp is very delicate. I am also tempted to get the avita's at the asking price but the shpping would be a deal breaker.

Yes.That is a concern.Spending such a huge amount(atleast for me)and then finding these dont work well here.Cant bear to think.
Can anybody compare a new lyrita system with used cadence avita+va1.

Cant really compare cadence & lyrita. The former makes hybrid amps while lyrita does pure valve amps that need hi-sensitivity spkrs due to low output. ESPanels go bad in hi humidity. Ask FM ashokhifi who got his panels replaced due to Delhi weather and at what cost. Imagine what the kerala weather would do & much sooner too. So perish the thot. Methinx your first system must not be valve based for 2 reasons - one, it costs too much for a really good setup which is also not well suited for all genres of music and two - no matter what u buy u will most probably upgrade later, so it doesnt make sense to go overboard at the outset. Take your time, go one step at a time. The journey is more to travel than to arrive at a destination, IMHO.

@ jithu - I had a great experience buying from the demo room.. It took a long time though, auditioning and research and finding out the best that suits my need. He was great in guiding me through each step and I am already planning to get a TT from him. Trust me, that dude's an expert.. I donno what happened in your case though!

Current generation electrostat panels of Cadence are quite humidity resistant. The older ones did have a huge problem during the rains unless kept in an air conditioned room. I changed the panels last year post monsoon (costly but totally worth it). So far this monsoon has posed no problems even after one and half months of Mumbai rains. And Mumbai is also quite humid, though it may not be as humid as parts of Kerala.

If you are interested in Cadence speakers, the VA-1 should be your choice of amplification. They pair really well and you will hear smooth mids and twinkling, stardust trebles.

Update.
Bought the io2.Liking what I hear.Still not setup prorerly.Has to play around with the placement.
Currently driving them with the topping.Thinking to pair with Lyrita push pull el84.And also Lyrita interconnects and speaker cables.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
