Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum & AV Receiver World.

My Setup is

Laptop > HDMI IN > Pioneer Receiver > HDMI OUT > Full HD LCD TV

Details

1) Lenovo Idepad Y550P (Integrated Realtek HD Audio)
2) Pioneer VSK 519V (Does not decode Dolby Digital or DTS Audio over HDMI & does not upscale Video either [1080P])
3) LG 42LK430 LCD TV
4) JBL Cinema 300

I am not able to get 5.1 surround sound for Blue Ray Movie Rips & 5.1 AC3 DVD Rips, Lossless Audio formats & Normal DVDs.

I only getting front stage surround sound with normal 320kbps MP3 tracks where the surround speakers & center speakers is working low sound levels (basically enhanced 2.1 systems setup)

How can i get surround sound in all areas?

Can this be setup differently or can i add some intermediate to make this happen?

Any settings which can be changed on the receiver itself?

I do not plan to upgrade the receiver

Manuj,

I have the pioneer 818vx model which also does not support hdmi audio. I am connecting using digital optical out from my htpc/media player to the reciever for 5.1 sound. Not sure whether your laptop has an optical out. If not then i think time to invest in a media player.

If a play a 5.1 audio or video file through usb input of a normal dvd player, will it get decoded on the receiver?

My tv has a dts decoder, if I connect my laptop directly to the tv and take it audio to the receiver by digital out, will this also work?

My tv also directly plays divx, vob and mkv through its own usb input.

The last option I see is to get a 5.1 external surround card with has a hdmi input and output (will the receiver accept the signal over hdmi?)

Please suggest the best option out of all or anything else?
