Tape comeback?

Mentioned here already, I think.

But the computer world has been using all sorts of different tape formats since for-ever, and I don't think any of them made it into domestic use. Perhaps because both cartridges and machines cost a ridiculous amount of money.

The closest I ever saw was the tape cartridge that looked exactly like the DV camera cartridges. I always suspected they were the same, but, of course, the suppliers used to say, "Oh no, you have to buy the special data tapes."

Tapes have existed behind the scenes for data backup since eternity. Has nothing to do with consumer storage though.
