Just now received the software update for Tatasky+ HD, Current software update is dated on 04-Apr-2013.

Few things observed after update

-Menus looks better and clear on HD screen
-Some of the on-screen message use multiple colors
-Better picture clarity for SD & HD channels
-UI changes such as color of favorite icon.

Completely naive question for anyone please: I do not have Tata Sky+ but just a regular Tata Sky box. How do I check if there is an update in the software. And if there is one how do I update my box please? Not done it since I got it about one year ago. Thanks.

I have received my firmware update automatically/server push.

Yes, the new update has nice features... like showing remaining time of the program. But when I press play button.. it should open a list of recorded programs but it is automatically playing the movie when I press PLAY.

What I don't like about this new update is

1. If you go to channel guide->all channels, earlier it used to take you to the channel which you are viewing. But now it start all the way from 100. It is making channel surfing so difficult for me.

I would love to revert this!!

2. No option to see lets all "All" news channels. Though I don't like this, but I can live with it.

This is what I don't like about this new update is

1. If our TS box is completely off even from switch and then After starting it, Play button works like as it was in last firmware, but once we have watched something from recording, if we change or switch the live channels and then if we press play to watch something from recorded program, it automatically plays (resumes) the last watched location. Earlier EVERY TIME when we were using play button, a recorded program list was appearing to select the video to watch.
But now to select the recorded program from list, we have go through PLAN > RECORDED then list appears.

Once again received firmware update, immediately noticeable change is even better User interface changes. Now OSD shows audio type in HD channels like Dolby digital.

Available resolutions in HD 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i

I guess with this update even built in wifi is enabled. Can some one check it please? If I am not wrong, you will be able to connect your HD box directly to your wifi signal.

Tata Sky launches updates of mobile app for Android devices

Tata Skys mobile application has now been enhanced for Android users. The upgraded app will offer more convenience to users as it supports some really cool stuff on Android version 2.3 and higher. Tata Sky takes into account consumer feedback and has now launched their upgraded app on the android platform. The upgraded app will provide functions like Wi-fi based remote for HD PVR - this means you can use the device as a remote control for the set-top box directly without requiring a dongle as, the remote sends commands to the set-top box over the home wifi network. This removes the dependency of having an mp3 mobile accessory and the app can provide remote function independently. Menu noticeably looks better in current update.

Unable to locate any "Tata Sky Mobile" application in android market. iPad application available at apple store, quality of app is very good.

I have not noticed any built-in wifi option in general menu, will check once again today evening.

1. New UI
2. New wi-fi remote having gesture controls (swipe) to change channel & volume
3. Change channels by typing on channel's logo.

The app controls TS+ HD box only.

It is not compatible with device galaxy S Plus running android 4.1, looks like it support ICS and below.
