That sinking feeling.

I understand your feelings. Loss is a loss but they have relocated and started business again.
fibonacci and North Creek
that a fire had started in the North Creek building in New York, in a section that housed a snowmobile rental company, and that the entire facility burned to the ground. No one was hurt. We lost almost everything; all of our inventory, custom machines, tooling, our records.... all that survived was a few CDs and a single Big Daddy Ribbon that was in a corner behind a Roxul rock wool bass trap.
In July 2012 we purchased a new building in the majestic Verde Valley in Northern Arizona, and by November began to rebuild the business.
North Creek Music Systems, Inc. continues to grow and evolve, and it has been quite a journey so far.

There have been a few other Pro Audio people in the US whose houses have burned down. Since they are built of wood mostly, nothing is really left behind. In one case I do remember people rallying around and sending 'copies' of professional papers ( written by him ) and projects etc. to the person concerned as he lost 'everything' !
Just impossible to assimilate the tragedy. I still wonder why they don't build a section of the house out of concrete/bricks ......just in case !

^With the kind of weather they have, it would be much more expensive to maintain and build. I think its the nature of work that requires a lot of care, flammable substances and materials, there should be a proper code of response so that as we can see that even though such a small amount(a gallon which is 4.4l) of spilt gasoline can result in such a humongous fire.

Well there's no point mulling about such a loss. What is lost is just lost. I just hope that these guys can return to their former glory and financial well being as soon as possible, best wishes to them.

I'm not refering to north creek by any means here. I have looked at North creek parts for my 802, and decided to buy from parts express. Enough said.

We had a ancient flea market in salisbury NC that burnt in 2011. I was there just a few days prior. There were lots of record collections as well as many many other "irreplaceable" collections lost. Most of them were small businesses, that never recovered. However they also came by their "collections" by less than upstanding means. I know of some people in salisbury who conned widows out of their dead husbands record collection and similar low ethical manuevres.

Yes 100 yr old wood burns very very quickly. The new flea market has been built in that spot, and its an all steel building. I wanted to build myself a house out of one of those. Maybe I still would.

Cool.
Srinath.

It is indeed a sad thing for North Creek.Too happy to hear that they have restarted their business.Thank God.
