I have a good collection of old Bollywood song- cassettes. Few HMV Golden Collection sets.
Many are hit songs of Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna. More of Kishore Kumar & some Amit Kumar songs. Many hits of Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet, Udit Narayan & Alisha Chinoy.
Devotional ones of T-Series,
M.S.Subbulakshmi & KJ Yesudas.
Some Vinyl Records of old Hindi & Malayalam songs.
I used to enjoy the cassettes on my Philips Sound Machine.
Then switched to a new Toshiba CD/cassette player. During the Pandemic and with some medical emergency at home, I never used it. Few months back I tried to play it in vain. FM radio is working fine. As for the vinyl, it's my late father's collection, but I do not have a turn table.
Do cassettes have an expiry date or something like that ?
Hope our FMs throw some light on it ?

My experience has been cassettes outlive CD. I have 40-50 years cassettes which still play. In fact I don't have a single cassette that doesn't play. I have many < 30 years CD which give read error and cannot be played

So the problem is with the Toshiba player. I will take it to the service centre.
