Hi,

I am having videocon D2h HD and a Sony Home Theater.
Now I want to listen 5.1 audio delivered by D2h in my Home Theater.
D2h is having ToSlink (Optical Fiber) output for 5.1 audio but my Home Theater does not have input for that. My home theater is having only RCA input (White and Red cable). Can anybody tell me how to connect ?
1) Can I get this kind of cable TosLink to RCA in Market?
2) Should I have to buy Digital to Analog converter and If I convert via d2a converter then 5.1 audio will be lost and converted to 2.1?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Naimish

With just stereo RCA inputs in your home theater, you won't be able to get 5.1 audio in any way.

Yes and yes.
Your HT is wierd. Does it take HDMI instead? How do you pass 5.1 signal to that?
Which model?

1) There is no such thing as Toslink to RCA cable. If it is converted, then it is known as a DAC.

2) If you buy a DAC, you cannot decode surround sound (DTS/Dolby) but only two channels which can be fed into your HT. External DAC is strictly for music only. May be there are a few exceptions.

Best suggestion is to get rid of your HT and get a new one.

Dear Naimish,

Even I had the same issue when i wanted to connect my Play on HD media player to my 5.1 speaker system, which had only 5.1 analogue input. My existing speaker system delivers decent performance and i didn't want to spend extra money for AVR and speaker set up.

So after some search in internet i purchased a decoder which takes the audio via optical cable and decodes and sends to my speaker sytem via analogue cables. My problem was solved.

Now i have connected my Videocon HD d2h also to my speaker system via coaxial cable through this decoder.

Pls find the link

you could try this also
Digitalbay| HDMI| HD Media player| HDMI Splitter| Digtal Bay

Any of the above decoder would solve your problem with out buying an AVR and speaker set up.

All the best.

Dijeesh.
