Many brands of AVR and sterio Amps will not reveal their true power. Generally the specifications are inflated . Is this is trend followed by speaker manufacturers also as many do not specify the RMS as continuous or Dynamic and how to verify their true power.

Regards

normally manufacturers specify the continues wattage rating. not peak.
a speaker specified as 100W can possibly withstand 2-2.5 times power for short term.
an exception is tannoy, which gives both continueos as well as peak rating.
amplifier power can be selected to match the peak power rating of speaker.
alternatively max amp. power allowable can be derived from max SPL and sensitivity.

Wharfedale sales guy says that the wharf speaker ratings are based on Dynamic / peak and not continuous and the peak will be 30% more than the continuous i.e if the rating is 100w the continuous will be 70w. Wonder and nowhere wharfdales are transparent about the specifications.
