Many among us would make multiple changes to our audio system. Sometimes the novelty of the change might saturate our senses and we may not realize whether what we have done is an upgrade or a downgrade to the existing setup!

From a recording standpoint - that is, if you have a setup which is able to both record as well as playback, here is a software which saves the day...

Audio DiffMaker

This link tries to rank the Audio Interfaces depending on A/D and D/A absolute quality. Objectively, not subjectively...

I am sure I came across something as scientific as this for playback as well a while back. Let me search back...

Just wanted to confirm. You can use the same piece of software (free) to determine difference, if any in playback quality as well. Instructions available on site.

So next time you change a DAC or even your speaker cables, you can go for an objective check using this software.

How true - I like that comment :)

The problem is that as humans we are never satisfied with what we already have and ache for more.

More so in the audio/video philes domain where the next big thing in audio or video and we are struck with upgraditis and it may be a relative upgrade or most probably a downgrade.

Nice...would be nice if we are able to test different DACs and see what the objective results are in the same software....

There are actual test results of various A/D and D/A designs on the pro-circuit. Have not come across anything similar for consumer-oriented stuff. I guess we could begin... :)

Believe me..it is more true than just a wise-sounding comment. Many are the times I have struggled with one tool or another and after a couple of days' constant struggle, damn it all if the system sounds so much better. Fact is it could have sounded better because I was tired and wanted it to sound better :)
