Upgrading to HD setup Box which one to go?

Hi Experts

I have a HD ready TV (42" Panasonic Plasma PV8D). I am planning to upgrade a HD setup box. Which one to go for?

I am currently using airtel DTH (service is pathetic) .

My viewing is mostly Hindi and Tamil Channels and occaisonally HBO and AXN.

I am in Bangalore.

Please advice which one to go for?

Having been using the Tata Sky HD and have no issues or complaints, would recommend to go for the same.

I am Happy with Airtel Hd STB.SD ch also looks good & so the SQ.

I've had experience of both Aircel and TATA (SD as well as HD). Service wise TATA is better and PQ wise its Airtel

have been using airtel for 3 years now and hd since 1 year. PQ and SQ is excellent. customer care is customer?dont-care.! but as long as you don't have to contact them you are good.! buy it, fix it, enjoy it.

package prices are also on par with others. I am getting all HD channels for INR 89 (+taxes) per month. The only ones i have not subscribed are the sports channels, which i do on when-neede basis (like IPL or world cup times).

Do we need to buy TataSky+ HD DRV - online or showrooms or any dealers for better price?

^^ i guess the initial cost is same doesn't matter where you buy it from. better call up the tata sky customer care or send an sms and they will get it done.

if DVR option is your requirement then I think given the present situation you should try Dish HD+ which gives you the flexibility to ecord on your own USB medium be it pen drive or HDD and that too at the lowest price of all.

Tata SKY HD = + best customer service , Good quality
- Costly , Less regional channels( especially Tamil channels)( i switched to airtel mainly because of this)

Airtel HD = + Reasonable price , best package choose options+ Add ons, Equalent quality + lots of regional channels
- Customer service -- ok, sometimes bad. You need to repeatedly call them .

Decide based on your priority.

Hi All,

I am planning to go for HD DTH of Tata Sky or Air Tel. I sure that, HD channels will be very good with respect to the PQ and SQ, but my most concern is for SD channels. Can any one tell how is the PQ and SQ for SD channels, as still we are lack more number of HD conversion of all the channels from SD to HD.

If I get some input from you guys it will be good for me to choose any of the DTH soon.
