Urgent help need Marantz Nr1601

Hi Fms,

I bought recently Marantz Nr1601(It is a 7.1 receiver) and Boston AS Xs5.1

The setup 5.1 is excellent, now i want to make it as 7.1 setup.

Which speakers are suitable for both movies and music for existing 5.1 setup ?

Advice me friends ,your help is highly appreciated.

If your adding new speakers to the surrounds then I would suggest you to get a pair of Boston Acoustics Soundware XS Satellite speakers, which I think will be same speakers that you are already using in your setup. It is best to use the same model speaker for all the surrounds.

If you going to replace the front speakers then you have a lot of options, but if your happy with your existing setup then go for the same speakers.

I don't know your budget but I will suggest some speakers which I feel would sound good with your AVR - Monitor Audio Bronze BX2, Q Acoustics 2020i and Polk RTiA1. You can also have a look at Polk's new TSx series bookshelf speakers, I am not sure how they sound but the specs look good for use with your AVR.

There will be a variation in sound quality between some of speakers I suggested and your existing speakers. The difference will be more noticeable when you play some music content through all speakers, but the overall sound quality will only be better. For movies the difference will not be very big, if needed you can get a center speaker model from front speaker's range as this will give a even sound for the front soundstage.
