I had issue with my 808 with HDMI connected devices....I was not able to get audio and video thro the same....I had given it to my onkyo authorized dealer here in Ahmedabad around 10-15 days back.....yesterday I got the revert that HDMI board is the issue and needs to be replaced....the cost of which would be 22K + 1200 bugs against service charge ... (My unit is out of warranty by 1 month ).....I am really disappointed...pls suggest what needs to be done....

Sorry to hear about the problem bro.U can get it repaired, get written warranty for the repaired part and sell off for a few grands more.....

Or on a serious note, give it away for free to someone whose name starts with "I"

Regards and waiting

Hi

Spending another 22k is not worth it, see if analog inputs are working (it has 7.1 analog inputs) if it works buy a media player that comes with 7.1 or 5.1 analog outputs (Google there are some) and use it for 2/3 years and sell it.

Thanks Sub,

I need to check whether the analog are working or not...but i think its working...since the problem is only with the HDMI part....I am not getting audio & video on HDMI connected devices through my Onkyo...

The problem is i have connected all my devices through onkyo (DVD Player, Media Player, Tata Sky HD)....Even i am also looking for 3d BD player to enjoy 3D & BD on my latest acquisition Pana 50VT20... Any solution to this issue ?

Hi

If analog inputs are working you can still connect all your devices to the amp. Moreover check Onkyo site they have given some firmware which might help you in solving HDMI issue.

Buy a good processor (Emotiva UMC1 is a good option if you have somebody in US) and use the AVR's amp section. UMC1 will handle all your other equipments also.

Thanks Sajith,

Thats the good option....Instead of spending around 23K on HDMI board, i can go with a good processor and can still use my 808 for amplification.

But, i am not sure how whether they will suit each other !!!!.
Moreover, i dont have any friend in US ....hence for EMO i will have to import it or will have to look for a used one if anybody is selling it.

@ Sub - I can connect the devices through amp, but all HDMI will be connected to TV directly and TV has got 4HDMI slots which will not take care of all my equipment's in near future...moreover, there will be multiple cables terminating to my TV....which i dont want...But still for time being its a good option.

Matching wont be a problem. Also a processor will be an upgrade from your 808 wrt SQ.

You can order it directly from Emotiva and get it shipped thru' Borderlinks/similar service providers. Check their site, there are some good offers going on...

Hi,
HDMi card is very sensitive, no inputs or outs should be unplugged with the system or the source ON..
Onkyo 808 has 3 co-axial & 2 optical, U can still use it as the Amp should not be having problem, The HDMi board is for ur Video processing/switching mainly, Connect ur HDMi inputs to ur Tv take out the digital optical out / connect ur audio independently to he AVR. you should be able to get it ..Good luck..
