Hi FMs,

I want to purchase Mission 35i speakers for Norge 1000 Gold Amp.
Can anyone tell me from where i can purchase in Mumbai.

Also if there is any online site selling please tell me.

on this forum - in one of the threads.. a distri had avvertised for M33i - not very long ago.

I am not sure if he has M35i but search the forum and you will find it.

This is approx 1 week ago.

Thanks All for your inputs.

So as it is discontinued one how about going for Norge Floor standing Tower speakers as I know it has 4 ohms impedance which could be a problem in future if I will go for up gradation of Amplifier.
Also there is BA 250 and sonodyne 2605 V3.

Amplifier I will be using Yamha AS-500 or Norge 1000 Gold(Yet to decide on Amp)

Pls audition Mordaunt Short (Aviano, I think), Wharfedale (10.x) and even Polk (like the RTi A7) floorstanders too, budget permitting. The only time I heard the Mission M33i (IIRC) at a showroom, I came away very unimpressed with the muddy presentation and flatulent bass. It was driven by an entry level Yamaha stereo amp (long before AS500 model was launched).

@ hrishi :For Yamaha AS-500 and Norge 1000 Gold amplifier Wharfedale speakers are best matched. What is your room size ??If small room size bookshelf wharf 10.2 goes well with both .Norge FS ofcouse is good matching with Norge amps but 10.4 wharf is better option.

Rgds,

Vardesh.

Thanks Vardesh,

My living room size is 14 x 12.
10.4 has 5" mid and 5" woofer separately,sensitivity:88db. but Norge has 6.5" x 2 midwoofer,sensitivity:90db and price is also almost half of 10.4.

i think bass performance and mid will be good in norge. what do you say on this ?
How about other FS in rage of 20-30k ? i dont need boomy bass at all but i need good punch and solid bass.

HI,Not necessarily Bigger drivers sound better. But personally I am using Norge bs with 2060 amp as secondary setup.I have seen your parallel thread regarding speakers and came to know you require real good bass for party music. For this you will require active subwoofer in your setup .
As you have auditioned Norge and maybe few others check this combinations :

Norge 2060 + norge BS + used subwoofer (get it from our own forum)

Pioneer bs f22 + norge amp or DNM amp + used subwoofer

norge md 75 + norge 2060 + subwoofer (Check with avenue sound if they have sub in your budget.)

Rgds,

Vardesh

Vardesh, I auditioned subwoofer with norge nano speaker(laxman ji prefered nano speaker with subwoofer). it was not impressing, woofer was sounding like my mitashi 5.1 which i play with my laptop so immediately asked him to stop :)

I could have finalized Norge tower if this was not a 4 ohm impedance speaker.

by the way how is your exp on norge bs n 2060 ?

If you want Mission speakers, then you can look @ the replacment model for M35i which is Mx5..But that would be expensive...

If you are going to keep the speakers close to the wall, then a Front ported speaker is better..

@hrishi : That norge nano with sub combination is not good.I suggested some other make subwoofer like polk etc in used category .Norge BS + 2060 works well for me,quite good bass and was within budget.Have you auditioned the combo i.e norge 2060 + BS

Lookup Pioneer SP-BS41-LR as well quite good bass and price .

Vardesh, I am not thinking to have BS and subwoofer it will look crowded and then positioning in home will not be good. again for BS i ll have to purchase stand which will add another cost.
if i need to purchase stand and BS then its better to have Floor standing speaker itself.

I am thinking if i can get same kind of bass in FS as i will be getting from sub-woofer But now as elangoas added one more tension for me that it should be front ported..:)

So suggestions are welcomed considering my requirements.

@hrishi : I got your point.Rear ported speakers are to be kept few feet away from wall.

Not much options left now.For your other post it seems you have zeroed on Norge amp so go with best suited NORGE FS.

FS won't be able to reproduce bass to the extent of Subwoofer.... But they will reproduce decent bass...

Most front ported speakers have wall mounting options...No need for a stand if you can't afford it (or) dont have space for stands if you think they make it crowded..

Sonodyne Sonus 1501 BS are front ported with wall mounting options...

Tannoy Mercury V1 is an other one.. It has key holes. so should be able to mount.. (Check with dealer if they wall mount screws & Kit are part of speakers)

Hi Guys,

So you should know this is first time i am going to setup a good stereo setup and in that pursuit i had demo of Norge. Now this is second demo.

I had one more demo today and that is Sonodyne Sonus 2605 V3. it was being played with
Sonodyne SiA 320 Stereo Amplifier and Philpse DVD player.
It did not impress me at all. it was sounding just a little superior to my existing 5.1 Mitashi multimedia speaker. i thought how could a floorspeaker sound so bad... i kept on changing track..i tried bollywood songs .. hollywood too.. i tried slow songs.. musical songs... but same result..

If i compare Norge Tower with this sonodyne 2605 V3. Norge tower is far superior. in sound in terms of mid..low and high.

I had finalized Norge Mofset Ref 2000 + Norge Tower speaker but speaker is out of stock now so thought to lets see Sonus 2605 V3.

FMs from Mumbai please suggest me where should i go for Demo of Mordaunt-Short Aviano 6. it seems in budget so i should also listen it.

then take the norge amp with you to pair with sonodyne.. do not buy till you listen with your amp.

hmm
this is your analogy ?
why you should get a floor stander rather than a bookshelf .....
....interesting

in that case
where the port is
is not going to make too much difference

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
