hey guys i am buying a new tv and i need your help to select a model

budget 50-70k
size reqd 42"+ the more the merrier
full hd reqd
usb port would be good.

dlna/upna is preferred though not abolute must

currently i am liking all the talk about LG 50PK550 R which i am getting at 59.5k at alfa.
also i am getting sony bravia 46" at 84k at alfa.

i am liking lg one bcoz of its price and size. is there any problem with it. i heard plasma is outdated technology. i do have viewing distance which is large so that's not a prob.

also any other tvs which i should look for?

plasma is not an outdated technology. it was deemed so a while ago till people realised that the colours in plasma are more natural that lcd and technology got better and now plasmas and lcds have pretty much the same lifespan. for movies etc plasma imo is better. for gaming, animation lcd is better.

i don't know about alfa much, but if you go to the places where they sell in grey you can get the sony 46Ex400 for about 66k.

That is actually not true. In fact Plasmas are far better for gaming compared to LCDs. This is because the refresh rate of LCDs is much lower than Plasmas.
+1 for that. Specially 2010 models form sony and samsung are having much more input lag.

That's debatable. The HUD's found on most games these days will cause IR, which screws up things if you want to watch a movie after a gaming for a few hours.

I have Plasma and I have PS3. And I don't find the IR to be a big issue.
Yes, IR do happen. But they sort of disappear almost immediately.

In movies, especially the dark ones, if there are subtitles, there will be a slight haze in that area, which will be noticible only in perfect dark scenes, with just black in that area. Otherwise its not bothersome.

As far as phosphor trail goes, they are again non issue. I have watched Dark Knight Blu Ray Rip (720p) and Avatar Blu Ray. Both have fairly fast action sequences.
I also play God Of War 3 .
I haven't noticed much of the phosphor trail.
I believe its partly due to 600MHz sub-field drive, which, if I'm not wrong, helps with colors and ghosting. (600Mhz sub-field is there in almost all plasmas now. This is not to be mistaken with the "200 Mhz and 120Mhz values u see for LCD, these are numbers for different technologies and not directly comparable).

Other Plasma Owners, feel free to pitch in :)
