Hi All..

Looking for a new AVR which is good for music too.. I have Yamaha 367 AVR but m planning to sell it off coz i dont like the music on it.. It's gud for movies though.. but my usage is 50-50% movies-music..

I have Yamaha NS8900 and NS-P8900 speakers.. i wont change the speakers.. Just need a new AVR..

Please suggest.. budget will be around 20-25K Max.. not more than that..

Thanks in advance...

@Sagar, Have you tried the Denon's, the outgoing models 1611 > 1911 might fit your budget.

Also, see the Yam 667, I have read good reviews about it.

Marantz among the usual suspects...

You can also consider Cambridge Audio and Yamaha...My Yammy 463 is amazingly musical...as good as my NAD stereo amp...

I have listened to music on Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon & Marantz receivers. Of all these i can firmly say Marantz is really musical.

So as per the replies my first choice shud be Marantz.. then Denon and then others.. hmm.. This saturday m gonna audition all these AVRs... :)

blindly you can go for denon ....you will get a good natural sound......good for music & movies

marantz ..you will get flat sound....good for music & bad for movies

yamaha...good for movies...but if you watch long hours yamaha will definitely get pain to your ears...produces unnatural sounds most of the times....

Hmm.. tomorrow m gonna audition both, Denon and Marantz.. Lets see how i find them.. :)

Cambridges are much more flatter (not in a good sense) when it comes to music...I'd go with Marantz or Denon

Still, its best to hear them and decide on your OWN what sounds best to YOUR ear.

before you go and spend your hard earned money, how do you know its your AVR thats the culprit for the music. I have a feeling that its your speakers that are culprits. try for a home demo of the avr with your speakers before you take the plunge.

there are not many choices at your price range and upto 100K where an AVR is good for musc reporduction as well.

Marantz and Denon and the newer Yamaha's are pretty good brands to look into.

Yeah i have this thing in my mind.. Infact i started a thread where i asked if someone can let me borrow his Amp so that i can test it with my speakers.. Last weekend i had a demo of Yam A-S300 with my speakers and they actually sounded nice.. So it may be the speakers or may be AVR.

Lot of people suggested me to keep the AVR and buy a seperate Amp for music listenin.. But bcoz of space contraints at my place, i was looking for an AVR which is gud for both, movies and music.
