WIREBUSTERS is this true>>>>

@ Rajiv, just read the first paragraph and posted it on impulse but after reading more than half of the article, wanted to edit my post to say that several of his statements have merit but you seem to have beaten me to it.:o

Yeah, he has made very valid points there. Of course I'll believe only if I personally experience them.:D

I recall listening to cheap MX speaker cable and it sounded very good. I am tempted to try it in my system if I can replace the 330/- per meter speaker cable I currently use :)

I personally, have always believed that beyond a point (and that may be different for each person), spending on cables is sheer stupidity.

Spending an ever increasing 100 bucks a meter more is bound to give you diminishing returns. Something you may not be able to discern as an average user.

Anyhoo...

All the best.

I have tried QED, Banridge, MX, Audioquest and Mr. Murthy's DIY ICs on my system. Currently, I use QED and MX. Honestly, I could not make out any difference between them. However, With Audioquest and Mr. Murthy's cables, I did notice a significant change in the sonic signature.

Well the 90/- per mtr DAC spkr cable does not sound right compared to the Chord SS cable, although there are not much obvious differences ...

One certainly needs to choose cables as they are somehow not neutral. More than the cable by itself, it must be the interaction of a (each) particular electronic circuits impedance, capacitance, voltage, current, resistance, blah blah.

I am not saying use electrical wire to connect speakers. But increasing the price in 100 Rupee/m increments is not going to give you a commensurate increase in Audio quality that you can perceive. If you can then go right ahead and spend it.

What i can understand from all this is it gives a person mental satisfaction if he spends 5000/- on a wire if he is using 1,50,000 system. But ofcourse one has to use good copper and distance awg formula still applies.

I say buy a good branded cable atleast it will give you good quality copper & will not decay with time as local wires get to lose carbon( not sure what u call that white residue) and if u need for not more than 3 mtrs per speaker than dont bother about awg as 24 awg will do just fine after that distance follow Awg distance formula .......... Which will increase the cost of wire per meter

But i am not an expert so please be gentel with me and correct me if i am not right ......... Need your comments please do guide. We love sound which comes from our audio's :ohyeah::licklips:

I was about to throw my old and inexpensive speaker wires and upgrade to an expensive one... good that I read this article... saved me from spending unnecessary moolah...:)

Cheers..

I cannot afford to experiment with expensive speaker cables, but I can only say that the Stackfine cables I bought at Rs. 100 per metre gave me no difference compared to the free wires I got from Mr Shyam Bajaj who clearly said, expensive cables are not justified.

I forgot to add. Remember, I was happily living with my old Denon PMA 520 and Sony 5 carousal CDP! I could not differentiate between Lyrita I/C and the ordinary one.

There are two reasons. One, audiophilia is a lot of hard work. You need to listen and listen more. Two, for hearing differences, your system should be resolving enough. Norge can no way be said to belong to that category.

Now all the Norge fans out there, don't flame me. ;)

Edit: This post was a rejoinder to this post which was originally supposed to be posted here but got posted elsewhere as I composed it (the post that is linked above) on my PC over a period of 2 days and got confused as to where to post.

Hold on Guys ... If ICs between DAC and preamp can make a difference, why not speaker wires? :ohyeah:

well after 5 years of psychology and reading the last paragraph i am at peice.. for i have no expensive wire that is prone to theft.. if if it is.. it wont fetch more than 100 bucks...

rest all depends on my ears.. if there's a diffrence after multiple listening.. get it .. else 50 bucks to 15000 bucks is just marketing to me....
