Hello everyone

I want to connect my projector to laptop and also laptop/cellphone to AVR to listen to songs etc.

I have left provision for wires through the walls.

Option 1
is that I connect 1 end of the of the vga cable to the projector while the other socket goes directly into the laptop. This is simple to achieve though when the cable is not connected it would hang.

Option 2 is that I get a vga socket. And when I want to connect I use an additional vga wire to connect the socket and laptop.

However my concern is that how would the wiring be done for the vga socket? Is it something complicated to acheive when done by normal electrician? And how complicated is the wiring for audio out socket?

Can someone who have used this or know about it throw some light on it?

Regards

You get long cables for every type. And you also get gender converters for every type.
The electrician has just to put them as they do with electrical wires.
Only concern is attenuation due to large lengths for analog.

I guess I would have to go the market tomorrow and practically see if the socket is easy to connect.

VGA length would be about 5 metre while audio cable about 15 metre. I guess that should be fine as far as attenuation is concerned?

These sockets are pretty easy to connect.
The VGA & HDMI connector are just gender converters.
The analog A/V could either be a gender converter or something on which you have to solder or screw the wire at the back.

Now another problem I am facing is regarding availabiltiy of these sockets!! Went to market yesterday, couldnt find it. Would go again tomorrow. Otherwise would have to order from ebay.com

What you are looking for is a very uncommon product. You won't find it in the market.
MX Electronics has them. You can contact the dealer. If the dealer doesn't have them, they can get it for you from the factory. Or order it directly from the website at a higher price (sometimes more than double).
Search a dealer here MDR Electronics - Dealers
I am not sure what connections you need, but this may be useful. Link A/V Plate

Thanks a lot!

Legrand makes such wallplates but as expected no dealer has them in stock due to very less demand. Checked havells, philips etc as well. Somehow forgot MX! Thanks a lot for finding this wall plate. :)

The price is a bit on the higher side. More so because I do not have any use of the RCA sockets. I just needed a VGA and Audio out socket but if can't find anything else might as well go ahead and buy this. The HDMI connection can come in handy when I decide to upgrade my laptop few months down the line.

Have written to MX and the Legrand people said they would tell about the availability by Monday. So lets see what happens.
