Hi,

I got this quote of 18.5k INR for a new piece of v571 and 15k for the demo piece from Media market near Stockholm. Its made in malaysia and is 220v. But no Indian warranty and i will be carrying it in my hand luggage when i return.

For the price point, this looks like a damn good deal (and I have already decided to go with 571 and PJ optoma hd20. speakers yet to be finalized. By july, i will be installing the HT). I think the best price for this avr in bangalore to be around 26-27k (new piece with b/w).

Is there anything that i need to take care before buying this?(planning to buy new piece in 1-2weeks).

Also the demo piece was there for last 10 months and assuming, if i go for this demo piece, should i check for anything else? If its a PJ i can understand new one is better, as it has a bulb life. but for electronics like avr, should it make a difference btw new and demo piece? (but for extra 3.5k, i wont getting the new one n just wanted to have ur thoughts on this)

Looking for your inputs,
Saravanan

and I see why the price has dropped...One of our fellow member Mav informed that *73 series from yamaha getting launched this month end...

can we expect a similar price drop in India in 2-3 months? any experience in seeing this kind of price drop and after how long, when a new series is being launched?

New model launches are a yearly phenomena from all the big guns- Yamaha,Denon, Pioneer, Onkyo and such.. I remember last year I had decided on the 667 but later cancelled my booking and instead went in for the 671 the day it was launched in US. It was a gamble no doubt as there were no reviews online even from the US. Consequently I was among the first couple of folks in India to get the 671 home. Tech speck wise there isnt much difference between the two but the preout isnt available on the 671. In its defense the 671 boasts of a slightly better sound quality (according to whathifi and Cnet) and networking. To cut a long story short manufacturers entice a new target audience every year with upgrades that most people wont even need. For example according to initial reports the new *73 series from Yamaha would have 4k up-scaling feature which to be honest is just a carrot. There is hardly any content in 4k and it would be at least four to five years before 4k displays came down to affordable levels and also when more 4k content would be available. As of now only Toshiba and LG have launched the 4k TV models in US at prices of around $4,000.

The launch of new models in US doesn't really translate into price reduction in India. When Yamaha 671/Denon 1912 got launched the 667/1911 were going for around 39k and even now they are somewhere around 32-35k. However if you buy from online sites like amazon.de then I am sure you would be able to get yourself a very nice deal on the *71 series in a couple of months from now. However the price that you are getting the 571 for right now seems like a good one. If you dont end up paying more in shipping/customs then I would say go for it.

Btw the 373 has already been launched and the other *73 series should be out on March 26th !
