Yaqin CD3 tube buffer

Hi Friends,

I was thinking to give a shot and buy a tube buffer to get a taste for tube sound.

I had heard tube sound during my hunt for stereo system around two years back. That was jolida amp with tubes and i was not interested in tube amps at that time and hence i did not take much interest in its audition, however since it was available to listen in another room at the same dealer shop. I still remember the moment of attraction when i had listened to them for a short time. What i can still recall is it felt as if the singer was speaking not just behind the speaker but even behind the walls. I never had such an experience in any other auditions, possibly because they were not tube amps.

So far Yaqin Cd3 i was able to shortlist. Any of your opinions and experience on this would be useful. Thanks in advance.

Miniwatt also is reputed but not sure it's a buffer. What's your budget. I had a cheap tube amp imported from China. Mp3 songs sounded much better on that one . Hope you realise that tubes have a shorter life and you will need replacements as you go, of course that's part of the fun.

Another cheaper option may be the buffers from Pete Chacko, they are available on eBay listed as indeed hifi. But buffers work. best when used between pre and power amps. Hope this helps.

Why don't you consider maverick dac with tube stage instead of a buffer. You may find that option better with more flexibility

My budget is around 10k. In one of my other thread, i was looking out for tube dac only, but few suggested that tube buffer is preferable. Also some one told that the normal tube dacs are not of so good quality and inside they pass the signal via buffer only. Hence i was leaning towards tube buffer instead of tube dac. Inthis way i have flexibilty to upgrade my schiit modi dac in future.

Try the Aikido tube buffer but not sure if you can get within this budget and also its a DIY kit form.
