I'm looking to replace my second system's CD player - currently a 18 year old Cambridge Audio 640D DVD player (though only used as a CD player for the last 5 years). The Cambridge sounds great - the audio is surprisingly good for a DVD player, but then it was designed to do well in audio and has a set of stereo RCA outs. Unfortunately after all these years corrosion has set in and occasionally it refuses to recognise discs.
Any recommendation for a CD player under 50k? I have a Audiolab 6000CD transport connected to my main system, but this one will require a player as the amp (Norge) doesn't have a DAC. There seem to be some Denon, Marantz and Rotel models out there but i was wondering which would be good value and reliable.
