So, im trying to design the new living room, and I feel I should make a hidden projector setup, as the space is nice and big.
Means, the 77 inch LG OLED TV will stay for family , but if I sit for movies, I will switch on the floor motorized projector screen - which on make the tv go behind it and I can watch and once done, I can close it again.

You can see here what I mean :

So, has anyone done the same ?

I used to have a projector and TV setup, drop down manual screen in front of the TV, worked well but don't use the projector anymore. Wouldn't recommend projectors these days unless your looking for a 150" image that is compromised.

I have also had a manual drop down screen mounted in front of the TV. Worked fine.
This setup has separate hifi and HT.
Here the screen is visible but could have been hidden inside the box.

Compromised?
Have you tried screens with different gain?

Projectors look nice enough with lights off but with ambient light it all falls apart. I spoke to a few people, including the people at DNP for an ALR screen and they honestly told me it won't look like a TV, even with their screen and a lot of lumens. Since I wanted to use the display with lights on I went with a TV. Even with lights off the projector can't compare.

I guess it's quite a personal choice as for just about everything.
I now have a fully darkened dedicated room for a projector setup with a 150" screen.
To me a TV just cannot compare with the experience of a projector.

share pics, please.
And whats the size of the room?
Also, whats the difference between the screen and your sitting area?

Because I want to decide whether to go for 120 inch or 150 inch ALR screen.

Current room size 14 ft x 23 ft (dedicated room)
Screen 150" fixed frame
Sitting distance from screen 15 ft

ok almost same size for me, but 150 inch laser UHT projector is costing very high around 4-5 lacs.
120 inch UHT 4K HDR laser LG one is costing around 2.5 lacs.

Which projector are you using now ?

Manual.
Yes, I do have a blu ray player but don't use it very much any more.
Haven't bought any discs in a long time now.
My watching is almost completely OTT nowadays.
