120" diagonal Fixed Frame for 23 thousand; OK?

Dushie,

If my pull-down screen behaves like yours, I shall be the happiest man. But down in Mangalore which is a costal city, the humidity is always around 90% and it rains solid for about 5-6 months. That is something to bear in mind right? Besides, there is this point that I make in my reply to west10100, just above this one.

Thanks. Any new ideas?

Dushie,

I just read (http://www.hifivision.com/home-theatre-projectors-screens/48780-grey-white.html#post554966) that you have a 150" pull-down screen; I am amazed that even after 3 years you do not have wave or wrinkle issues. So, "what is the secret of the long lasting youth of your screen"?

I know that installation requires a few basic physics rules to be followed. Anything else?

madbullram,

Thanks for chipping in. Wall-paint then it is. Someone by the username giddavr on the forum once mentioned emulsion or premium wall paint on either the laminate or the plywood board after puttying to perfection. That again seems an elegant solution.

Keep up and I shall come back with pics when I start doing something.

Dhar: You can use the muti-quote button and reply to 2 people in same post, avoid creating 2 posts.

For a temp solution, you can just paint a wall and use it. Ensure you can use any royal or glossy paints. I see the mumbai company has some cheap manual screen, thats also an option as you can sell and recover some cost

tintin,

Thanks for drawing my attention to deltapage.com. I might have gone through it, but I dont, honestly, remember it. Thanks, all the same.

What brand are these screens? the pdf file that you refer to does not mention the brand, but says that the fabric is American pvc. Can you share technical information on this, if you have any? I shall be much obliged.

Thanks.

west10100,

In the end (that is, when my dedicated HT is finished on the terrace) I will be definitely going for a fixed screen, there is no doubt about it. Till then (may be for about six months) I want something in my drawing room and I am in no mood to spend money on something purely temporary.

That means, then, two things: re-do the wall paint or go for laminates. Right?

Correct decision!
Re doing the paint should be a good temporarary option.

Hello all,

Got hold of some workers from a nearby construction site. They have agreed to do the job for me. They insist that I should only decide on the colour and they will do the rest. No way!

From the earlier posts in this forum I have gathered that Asian paints royal
[Pilgrim (code 6129)] has been tried. I am also considering Asian Paints Aarmour-N - 0686; Ice grey - 8259 and Winter Moon 8258. What I want to know is which kind of interior paint I should be using. In Interior paints Asian Paints has 1)Royale; 2)Royal Play; 3)Premium Emulsion; 4)Tractor Emulsion and 5)Distempers. Which one should I be using?

BenQ W1070 is very bright as it is and I am using it at a distance of 13 Ft which makes the pricture very bright indeed. A little to the grey side should be fine for me.

Please advise. Thanks.

Hellow all,

ebay is a place where there are all kinds of sellers. I got my order for 10 pieces of Nakamichi speaker banana plugs. Sadly, the packet contained only 8 pieces. I have lodged a complaint and the process is on. I have never trusted ebay for amounts more than 5000/-, sort of mediaeval, rural mentality may be.

I came across this offer on ebay for Carls FlexiGray, (16:9) 71x126, Projector Screen Material, High Contrast Gray for Rs.11474. Has anybody procured this material through ebay? Is the quality guaranteed? Does the screen develop permanent crease marks if delived boxed?

I am looking forward for feedback eagerly

Hello all,

For those of you interested in painting your wall as go-by screens, here is a very interesting link "Beginner's Guide To Simple DIY Painted Screens": http://www.avsforum.com/t/929997/beginners-guide-to-simple-diy-painted-screens

I have confirmed with Asian Paints outlets that they can supply the exact shade if you give them these RGB Values.

Computer Screen display is not a reliable colour indicator, but for a quick check, you can use this online programme to check the shade of RGB values: http://www.fillster.com/colorcodes/colorpicker.html

you need not buy carl's screen from ebay. Visit Carl's website. They ship international also. They also mention about different ways of shipping folded/rolled according to cloth quality.

I have re painted a wall with thick black borders.... The result is pretty good except for the inherent reflection of paint... I guess special paints can do a lot better... As of now I am totally satisfied

One more option is look at metallic shades, if you google you will get some reference

But I thought metallic shades are shiny and cause hot spots! Are we talking o the same thing?

Thanks, I shall look up anyway.

rdksrk2013,

Thanks. I knew it. But have also heard of couple of cases being held up at the customs. ebay.in global sourcing would get your stuff through the customs. You will, of course, pay more.

Thanks, all the same.

Jidhin,

Thanks for the information and the attached picture. It would great if you could share details about the paint you used, including the colour code of the shade you have used.

Do please post again.

Madbullram,

Sorry, did not know that feature existed. Googled and discovered. Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience I caused.

IMO, Painting a wall, your eye will get to see the wall during some scenes (e.g a BIG wall with medium bright color).

Apply a wall putty, then apply a normal interior wall primer.
Then check with your pojector.
