250w sub Amplifier

Question is fired towards Faizal, but I know the dealer personally. It is available online sold by someone and I don't think it is the manufacturer himself as the price is quite steep compared to how much it is sold for at the store.

Hi Sarith

Thanks for the update. Please PM or would appreciate your mobile number and a convenient time for me to call you to get the details. I would like to proceed with a build to power my passive sub. I am using an old Fisher amp which is just 100 watts for the purpose and would be happy to have more juice for the sub. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Actually i got pro link 250w amp from one of my friend named appu,Apppu purchase this for one Mr Jayan who is from trivandrum,i got the amp for Rs1400,

Today i tested the amp,the o/p is too low :sad:with zero attenuation in i/p,so a pre gain stage is required to get the rated full load power

Regards
Faizal

What is the input sensitivity of the amp? Did you made any sinewave test on it? And if the output is too low, check the quiscent current. Adding more preamps will destroy the noise figure if you are already feeding the amp with line level signal.
cheers.

Buddy,
If you are considering a serious DIY build, I would like to suggest making your own board than buying readymade ones. Try Elliot P68 or the leach amp. PCBs for these can easily be made at home.

Hi Diesel

Yeah thanks for the suggestion, wanted to take a shorter route because of some constraints.

Cheers

How to do sine wave test,i/p sensitivity is 2v rms as per manufacturer, i resolved the problem by adding a simple op amp gain stage in between power amp an input stage,no distortion at full level,so the amp is not reaching saturation, now the amp is making my whole home shaking, some fine tuning required for the enclosure port ,i am satisfied :yahoo::yahoo:

Sine wave test goes like this:
connect 8ohm/4ohm resistive load to the output. feed the amp with a variable amplitude sinewave around 1KHz. measure the input and output amplitude with an oscilloscope. from this you can calculate the power devoleped and corresponding input required. (P=Vsquared/R) But take care, especially if your heatsink and powersupply is underrated. and dont load the amp for a long time like this.
2V rms sensitivity is too high a value. 1V peak is normal for poweramps.

I've seen lots of amplifier kits of Wintek and Lumin at diyaudiocart.org; how good and reliable are they? Anyone using them for sometime?

Been using Wintek for more than a decade. Lumin/prolink for the past few years (Prolink older than Lumin). All are good and I didn't encounter any bad incidents yet.
