TV - Samsung 3D HDTV UA40D6600WRXZN
HT - Samsung-HT-D330K 5.1
DTH - SunDirect HD

Setup

The Home Theatre is connected to TV via Digital optical cable.(HT doesn't have HDMI, optical is the only option). Now the DTH is connected to TV via HDMI (ARC). TV has 4 HDMI ports and only one of them is ARC. I know it has something to do with Audio and connected via that. !!

Problem

When playing 5.1 movie directly from TV (via USB), the audio automatically switches to dolby digital. But when watching HD (dolby surround supported) channels from DTH , the audio does not switch to Dolby Digital, the option is disabled. When i connected my laptop to TV with HDMI, and played the same 5.1 movie, the audio mode does not switch to Dolby Digital. I used VLC player and made sure that the options are tweaked to output 5.1 sound.

PS: TV has faulty speakers, so Connecting Optical cable from DTH to HT is out of the question. Though I'll test it and post the results later.

For DD sound while watching movies on HD channels, go to the language option (while on the same channel) & see if you are getting DD option there.. If yes, switch to it.. HT will throw DD out..
