Hi Everyone,

Hope you are doing well.
I am looking to buy a 50 inch TV for my parents.
80% use is watching cable & about 20% for Netflix/ Prime. The interface should be easy for them to use , Alexa compatibility would be a bonus.

I was looking at TCL 50C715. But are there are better options in Sony/ LG/ Samsung for same price range or may be 5-10K more.
TIA

You can buy Toshiba U5050 55" tv at Amazon or Flipkart at Rs 42,999/-. It is a far better option than TCL

Samsung frame had some offers on Flipkart with final price ending up near 55k.
Is this what you were referring to ?

It’s 72K now

They wouldn’t really want a toshiba as it’s still not a very known brand. TCL has become a known brand in the last year, so I would appreciate suggestions b/w TCL, Sony, LG & Samsung.

Panasonic only can be put up among those three big names. TCL is not yet in that elitist brand name.

For this budget I would rather suggest samsung AU series or Sony 2019 models than toshiba or hisense. Toshiba can be recommended only for u7980 due to fald as vfm, for rest is a bet and must be acquired in 30-37k range tops. And let's definitely not focus on nits alone please. It's just a jargon everyone runs after, look at the panel and pq not just nits.TCL panels for India are crappy so far, atleast in showrooms like rd check them out side by side with Samsung or any decent brand

Is the Samsung OS easy to use, with a low learning curve ?

Hi,

I just noticed a discussion happening on Toshiba TV. I would like to give small feedback on this. The present Toshiba is not the old TV which is made in Japan or those which certify the Japan standards. Toshiba has sold the entire unit and rights to a Chinese company. I am using a Toshiba TV which I bought 10 years and its still good. So don't get confused with the brand the present Toshiba.
