Which would be better 55inch TV for the main room? The price difference is quite significant. The 800 is for Rs.1.5 lacs while the 950 is for Rs.2.19 lacs. I have a 40in Bravia bought nearly 4 years ago which I shall be moving to the bedroom. I expect good quality movies and sports ( have Tatasky Hd), a little bit of 3d, and good sound quality and to work for at least the next 5 years. I have PS3 and would also watch 3d movies as also use it for games for my 7 year kid, not heavy gaming but maybe also 3D as and when it is available.
I saw the demo of 950 55in, felt it to be good for the Tv programmes that were being aired through Videocon STB; but the VS showroom had the 800 at 47in only.
47in TV at the showroom did not seem any bigger than the 40in that I have at home and hence would want a 55in Tv.
I have been through the other topics, but would highly appreciate advise.

Guys, please advise, banking on your advice on purchase of The Sony TV. Thanking in advance.

may i suggest..
as u already have a tv bravia 40 inch..why another tv..
get a projector for special movie and gaming use..
55 is not that big..it will be used/set to your eyes/brain after a month and will seem smaller..
a pj exp is really different..

I feel that for fixed panel displays, the smaller the better. 55 inch is ample ofcourse.
By chance somebody watches a low resolution video from say youtube, it will be a bad experience unless you see it from a very far off distance.
And led pixellation will be horrible for giant screens.
Plasmas are best choice for sizes above 50 inch. You may feel bad with a low resolution video but you wont vomit.

assuming u have a viewing distance of more than 12 feet , and assuming that u r comfortable with active 3d and price no bar, 950 is a choice, or else 800 is also a good TV with passive easy on eyes vfm led TV... however if u r a video pHill and very sensitive to black and Hollywood movies, go. for 950... as u want to use it for ocassional gaming, u wud not suggest plasma tho they r excellent in pq and black levels at less price...all the best...

Thanks. I did go out with the option of seeing Panasonic Plasmas also along with Sony LEDs, but could not find any Panny Plasmas at Vijay Sales and at Croma. Any idea where 50'' or plus Panny Plasmas could be available in Thane or Mulund?
Kid wants a 3d tv, but the hype will wear off and might be able to pacify my kid.

Wanted to be shifting the 40" to my bedroom from the hall. Your advise is making me think again on whether to spend so much..... Will check up on the PJ options. Thanks a lot.

You will rarely find plasma models in multi brand showrooms. If at all, the models will be low end plasma. To have a look, you will have to visit brand showrooms.

pjs are not costly..in fact it is cheaper..price/inch ratio comparing with a tv..

you will get fantastic pjs within 1.2 lakhs..screen and cables extra..total 1.5 lakh max..btw cheaper options are also there..i just gave an example considering... say epson 8100

i would not suggest it so hardly if it would be your first screen..but being a second screen..and you want 55..why..bigger than 40..right..would you be satisfied with 55..if 40 seems small today..think it

get pj you wont regret..
optoma, epson, acer, panasonic there are many brands to choose from
