Hi,
I plan to get a good HTS for my home but do not have much idea about things. Have googled and found some pretty basic stuff that getting individual components is better than HTiBs.
My budget would be around 50k and can't afford to spend more than that right now. I live in Ahmedabad and would really appreciate if you could get me the details of which HTS should I go for.
I would like to have radio tuner, ipod dock and wireless system, though these are not compulsary.
Also I own a Macbook and would like to know if it would be possible to connect it to the system since Macbook Pro has just one Audio port.
Please help me or at least guide me to a good link where I can get some information regarding this.
TIA. :)

get an onkyo 606 with a 5.1 package of speakers ( warfedale, energy take classic etc)
an airport express would help to stream music
i think you will probably spend 60k but thats money well spent

Thanks for the suggestion. I did a google search on onkyo 606 and it mentioned that the model was giving repeated HDMI failures. Anyone who is using 606 and not facing problems?

Onkyo models 5300 and 6300 are HTIB systems. Right now I won't be having a very big room. So going for a 7.1 setup, will that be a good decision? Also, going for HTIBs and not individual components, that won't affect my experience or is there a considerable difference? Right now, Ahmedabad (where I will live) and Lucknow (where I am currently) both do not have many options with Onkyo. So I think I will have to look for options in Delhi someday.
Thanks for your advice guys... I think with less knowledge about the technicalities, it would be better to go for a good company and HTIB. wtsay?

the onkyo 606 is quite a popular AVR
infact its won a couple awards too

i have a couple freinds using the 606
theyve never complained
anyway look at the lower rung series if you are unsure about the 60

you can always look at the denon 15** or 19** series too

In ahmedabad, u wud have many options regarding Onkyo, yamaha etc. Wharfies, marantz r also easily available. I can help u with some addresses & contact no if u want. There ia also a special Yamaha outlet in ahmedabad.

For your budget, it is difficult put together a decent component system. AVR of onkyo is decent and as i said earlier u can upgrade the fronts well within ur budget.
