A/D/S 200 help

Hi all,

I'm new to HiFiVision, and I live in Chennai. What a place...!

I have a pair of A/D/S 200 loudspeakers that I bought sometime during mid-80s. The surrounds on both woofers have given away and I need to have them replaced. Is there anyone in Chennai (or anywhere in India, I don't mind shipping to someone of repute) who can do a competent job of replacing the foam surrounds.

If required, I can get "New-Edge-It" surround foam kits for the A/D/S 200s from Simply Speakers (US) for around $27+shipping to India. In fact, I can carry out this job myself, but my problem is removal of the front metal grill on these units. They seem to be glued-on to the metal cabinet. It does look like you need a heat-gun to facilitate the removal of the grille. If anyone has had similar experience with these units

I would be most grateful for any advice.

Just for information, for an additional labor charge of $25 per unit, Sean Ryan at Simply Speakers will do the job, if I bear the cost of shipping/insurance both ways. That is a very expensive route.

Take it to the Ritchie Street,There is a shop in the middle easily visible as the Guy would be sitting outside and working with woofers and surrounds all the time, but I am not sure how it will sound after wards I did it for one of my Friends speakers and the sound wasn't so good.
may be it needed some burn in

Thank you Saran, I have seen the work of this Ritchie St. guy. As you say, his work is not good, because his surrounds are all of the same stiffness and will not work in most cases. I have found Richard So Company in Phoenix, Arizona who has original inventory of ADS spares.
