Hi all,
I recently purchased A-Star Auto Transmission 2012 model, which has OEM head unit & 2 front door speakers. The output of the OEM head unit is not so good. (Speakers could not handle bass). I want to upgrade the speakers & head unit if required. I usually listen to Rock, House music.
Budget: 20K to 40k

I want to know following:
1. Can I add 4 inch components in the Dash Board? Which is the best company?
2. Can I add 4 no.s of 5.25 inch speakers in front & back door? Which is the best company?
3. Rear parcel shelf does have sufficient space for accommodating 5x7 speakers, Shall I try 6x9 size?
4. Skipped idea of speakers in boxes because of the limited boot space.
5. Can I add Bass tube? How much space will it take?
6. Do I have to add amplifier for above setup? 4 channel or 2 channel?
7. Do I need to change OEM Head Unit?
8. Also I need to do dampening all the four doors and boot. How much does it cost?

Please suggest me good installer for above upgrade in Pune.
I am also ready to get it done in Mumbai.

Thanks in advance.

1. If front speakers are located in doors, what is the need for 4 inch components in dashbard? You can just replace OEM speakers. 4 inch dash location can be used if you want to do 3-way system. If you are not going for 3-way, you can skip dash location. In any case, there are not many 4 inch components. Most of them are co-ax. Only 4-inch component I know is from Illusion Audio

2. I do not know the stock size of A-star, but I believe you can fit upto 6.5 inch speakers using spacer rings in all doors. There are many brands JBL, Infinity, Illusion Audio, Hertz, Rainbow, Helix etc. Visit the installer for availability and audition.

3. For 6x9, you will have to replace stock parcel shelf with MDF board. But if you drive alone most of the time, do not bother to change rear speakers.

4. and 5. whatever you put in boot, with A-Star's limited space, you will not have space to accomodate anything else. If you are ok to scrifice boot space, I suggest 8 inch or 10 inch subwoofer in custom box rather than bass tube.

6. If you want to focus only on front sound stage, you can just change front two speakers and add 2 channel amplifier. You will need 4 channel if you want to power rear door speakers also through Amp. Or if you are going for subwoofer, you can use 2 channels of 4 channel amplifier in bridged mode for subwoofer.
7. If you are going for amplifier, most likely you will have to change head unit also as OEM system may not have pre-outs. If budget permits, go for good Kenwood/Alpine HU
8. Not sure about damping cost. Most of the Pune installer will try to convince you that damping is not required. But it will certainly improve the sound.

Installer in Pune: There is no best installer in Pune. Your best bet will be Poona Motors in camp. They are good if you are doing a simple setup (amp+4 speakers). But head for Mumbai if you want to do anything like 3-way setup.

i dont think you can change the oem head unit!...my only bet would be replacing the front speakers...as its an very small hatchback the amps might be an overkill....this is just my beliefs and suggestions!

I have finalized my requirements which are as follows-

Budget: 25K to 50k

1. I want to add 4 inch components in the Dash Board. Which is the best company?
2. I want to add 4 no.s of new 5.25 inch speakers in front & back doors. Which is the best company?
3. Do I have need to add amplifier for above setup? 4 channel or 2 channel?
4. Which will be the best head unit for above set up? With Bluettoth & USB connectivity.
5. Also I need to do dampening all the four doors and boot. How much does it cost?

Please suggest me good installer for above upgrade in Pune.
I am also ready to get it done in Mumbai.

Thanks in advance.
