AC Infinity Multifan S7 dual usb fan - Super cooling saviour

Hi Fm's,

What I am writing is not something new & some FM's may already be having different models of the company. These dual fans are usb powered & can be plugged in behind an AVR/Amp supporting usb port or directly in a power strip which supports usb ports which I have done. They are ideal for gear which tend to get too hot like avr's, class A or hybrid amps, gaming consoles, etc. They can be place horizontally(if the top AVR/Amp cover is flat) or vertically & can be daisy chained upto 4 fans through a given usb port. The fans have a speed controller with 3 speeds(O,L,M,H). Even at high speed I could not hear any sound, they are that silent or maybe my hearing is not perfect. They have soft padding(removable) on the legs on both sides so that they don't scratch the gear & avoid vibrations. You do get powered model S7-P with a plug. It comes well packaged with a small manual.

In my case the Marantz avr gets too hot to touch when used without an airconditioner especially for movies. I tried these fans placed in a horizontal position on the avr over the hottest areas without keeping the AC on. Watched a movie for approx 2 hours in Mumbai's hot n humid weather during april with myself perspiring a bit. The fans were kept on high speed & later felt the top cover of the avr . It was just about faintly warm which otherwise without the fans would have been very hot to feel. The good thing about them is that with hardly any space in the rack above for heat dispersion (images attached), the fans did a superb job in cooling. With the speed controller setting at medium, the top cover gets just a bit warm & not hot.

If the life of an amp/avr or any other gear is to be increased from heat, then these fans are just great & do the job of cooling.
Unfortunately here on Amazon India, the S7 model currently costs Rs. 4,235/-. Whereas on Amazon US, it can be procured for approx Rs. 1750 /- which is less than half of the cost here if someone can carry from there. It is definitely a worthwhile investment to save your gear from the heat plus reducing your electricity bills.

I've been using AC INFINITY AIRCOM T10 Front Exhaust 17 for 5 years.

It has been great and keeps the AV gear(s) cool.

Very true, my model is just a year later 7011 bought in 2018.
Had to install an AC to cool it
But the fans do a better job than the AC.

I use the Infinity T8 which has a rear exhaust and yes its a huge blessing to keep the AVR cool.

Have you tried putting them to the sides of the AVR, pulling air out of the sides. Would that be better than putting it on top?

On other note, how do you clean the dust off the AVR internals? With fans the atmospheric dust (thanks Mumbai construction and digging ) will only get pulled into the AVR?

I haven't tried with the fans at the side of the avr. I can try that and will let you know. Infact will also try another option with 1 fan on top and the other one at the side where the heat sink is there.
Regarding dust in the avr internals, I remove the avr's top cover and gently use a camera lens blower and a soft brush to clean the internal dust. I don't remove any circuit boards since I am no technical expert.
When not in use, the avr has a cloth cover which prevents dust to whatever extent it can.

@Nitin K I have 3 inches to all three sides - left , right and top. If i place rhe fans to the top, won’t it cause a hot air vortex in the TV unit?

I just checked that with ambient temperatures at 29, the top of AVR is 49 and L and R are at 38-40 Celsius.

In my rack, I have left, right, front and behind space open. With barely any space on top just enough to fit the fans , there was absolutely no issues in cooling.
I will try keeping the fans vertical on the side of the avr near the heat sink and will let you know.

Since you have 3 inches above your avr, it should work in your case too. I have less than 2 inches space on top(approx 4.5 cms), yet managed to fit the fans & keep the avr cool.
On a different note, I had placed 1 fan vertically on the side of the heat sink but there was no point in that exercise since the avr height is 7 inches and the fan was barely reaching the vents. Hence placed both the fans on top over the hottest areas.
If your avr height is less, then placing it vertically on the side should do the job, but I see no reason for this since you have enough space on top to keep the fans.

From pictures you have shared, I doubt if these fans can do anything at all to get heat away from the system. You risk trapping heat within the area. There is no space or clearance to exhaust the hot air. It will benefit to place them under the unit.

Heat rises up. Naturally. What you've done is restrict that movement, cause the fans no longer have space to exhaust air.
What will benefit more is to relocate the AVR with no restriction on top or atleast more than what is there currently. The unit is running hot cause there is nowhere for the heat to go.

If you are referring to my case, then they do a fantastic job. I have experienced a vast difference in cooling.
Besides they will not fit under the avr.

These fans seem similar to the ones used in the PC cabinets so it you want to have them for cheaper than amazon then just look up any fan manufacturer e.g. Artic, BeQuiet, Fractal Design, LianLi, Noctua, etc and then just research the importer for these products and have it shipped them directly to you.

Also, now PC cabinet fans come in daisy chain like shown in the image so you will be occupying only one USB port on the AVR if you decide to use this product.

Hi, I am looking for cooling Fan for AV, Home Theater, PS5 Racks and understand that AC Infinity does the job well but the concern is the 3X cost in India as well as the delivery time is more than 10 Days.

Any other recommendations for the fans availaible in India which can be used for my AVR, Streamer and PS5 Rack ?
