Hi all

Hope someone can advise me, my father recently donated me two of his old amplifiers and I'd like to try then out but, obviously want to be very careful what I'm doing with them, especially as one is a real antique! The models are as follows:

Aiwa DC Stereo Power Amplifier P30 (model number SA-P30K) --> https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/aiwa/sa-p50.shtml
Rotel RC-971 Stereo Control Amplifier --> http://www.rotel.com/en-gb/product/rc-971

I have a set of large speakers that state they're 8 Ohms each on the back of them. Would it be ok to connect these up to these amps?

According to the manual for the first one, it states "You may use speakers with an impedance of 4 or 16 ohms" (which obviously doesn't match what I have).

In the manual for the second one, it doesn't give any indication at all (as far as I can see) what speakers it needs.

I know next to nothing about the technical side of things, I just love hearing music at good quality when I can.

Thanks

djdust-The Rotel-971 is a pre-amplifier which doesn't connect to speakers directly. It connects to a power amplifier which in turn connects to speakers. Hence impedance rating is irrelevant for this component.
The Aiwa power amplifier is capable of driving a much higher speaker load (4ohms) than your speakers. So I wouldn't worry about connecting it to your 8ohm speakers.
Thanks.

Both could turn out very musical. Hook them up to a CD player with the Rotel in between the Aiwa amp and CDP. And let us know how it sounds. It’s perfect to connect your speakers to the Aiwa amp.
