Airtel Digital remote problems

Hello Friends,

I am facing issues with my Airtel Digital HD remote.
Sometimes everything works fine.
But most if the times only the TV functions (volume, mute, on/off) work while the STB functions dont work at all.
Is this an issue with the remote or the STB

Normally this happens when you set the reminder programs and it is asking you for accept or reject. After you respond to that choice all functions will work fine. At times u need to throw the remote hard on floor (reset method) .

Its definitely not the former as I havent set any reminders and I have tried the later many times without any luck.
When I restart my stb it works for a few secs and again goes blank.
I have to keep the TV running for an hour or so for the remote STB functions to work. Again this is not guaranteed to work.

Log a service call and get it replaced.

no its the problem with the STB. i had a same problem and just got it rectified yesterday.
my problem was not just with that but i did not used to get sound out of the hdmi too.
the stb is as fault and nothing else.
for this the remedy is to get the stb changed. if its in 1 yr warranty they will replace it free, otherwise they charge u 750rs. i just got mine done yesterday.

If its going to cost me around 800 bucks i will seriously think of switching to Videocon HD

Thanks Denzong..So I guess i will have to get a new STB. As it is this STB (Hauwei) did give me lot of trouble in the past where my HDMI connection used to go blank. It got self rectified though.

Can I go directly to some place and get this STB replaced or do I have to go through the pathetic Airtel service.

You have to go through the pathetic services. And they cannot charge more then 750 if its out of warranty

Just logged a call. will get it replaced. Its 750 as you mentioned. Hope the replacement is trouble free !!

Had a similar problem with the Airtel where the remote will blink, but STB was not recognizing the click. The STB buttons were working properly.

Called the Airtel CC. They said the person will come next day. Within 1 hour, the technician was at my home. He reset the STB (the display showed NVRAM cleared) and everything started working again properly.
