[AIRTEL HD] Can we receive 5.1 channel audio using ARC between LED TV and HT ?
If I connect my Airtel STB HDMI to LED TV
LED TV To ARC to Home theater.
Or I need to buy optical cable to connect HT to STB (using Optical) , and HT to LED TV using HDMI (ARC).

Also Please let me know which cost of optical cable (cheap one).

thanks

yes from airtel box use toslink to ur ht system.....and hdmi from airtel box to tv...
dont bother arc.
if your ht has many hdmi input the use avr route

ARC did not work for a friend's system. Had to go with Optical cable from STB to AVR for 5.1 to work.

i also have a arc confusion..dont know solidly how it actually work...
may be a usb file played in tvs own board will send audio via arc wala hdmi line of tv to ht.........i have a doudbt that a data from one hdmi line will not go into another(arc wala) hdmi line

What is toslink ?

I will also want to connect my Airtel to the 5.1 system .

I use Airtel HD service.

Yes we will have to hook up the STB to the AVR through optical to get 5.1 from the HD channels.

Optical cable from LED to AVR doesnt output 5.1 as the incoming connection is from HDMI from STB and the TV is not able to decode 5.1 this way.

optical cable is toslink....use airtel stbs optical output to ur avr optical in....(see your optical cable got a chance to be used)

Okay, so the digital optical goes from Airtel STB to the AVR directly ?

And the HDMI of STB to TV still remains the way it is.

And my HD STB is something like this,

I guess the coaxial audio cable will do it. Right ?

Your STB has only coaxial out. Any RCA cable can be used, but if you want something branded then look for belkin coaxial cable.

I think I already have it.
See this image, what I have got last month.

So, the coaxial audio one point cable will do the job ?

Hmm, I actually did this connected the RCA component cable to the AVR, but the sound was output from only one channel(Left). Besides there was a echo due the sound from both TV and HT, which I was able to suppress by making the TV to mute. Still the output was not that great. Probably thinking of connecting the STB->AVR->TV which makes it mandatory to turn on 5.1 for all the TV programmes :-(

no why 5.1 for all programme....avr will detect DD for true 5.1 channels and in others it will automatically select pcm(u can see it in display) and will otput 2 hannel....yes if you want 5.1 from the 2 channels contents..select then the dolby pro logic ....
