Not sure if it was discussed before but AIR has put its archives on sale :yahoo:. Just read a big article in TOI about it. It called Akashvani Sangeet

Hi MBR,

My father had sometime back purchased a Tamil devotional CD by Sri.Sirkazhi Govindarajan released by AIR/DD. The SQ was nothing to write about. There was a noise as though a wet-grinder running in the background.

But I have some AIR recordings released by INRECO company and they sounded quite good. But the sound quality in those days at AIR was not audiophile either.

I just heard the CD Recording of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer online from AIR, it seemed fine. May be these released are better (hoping). Just ordered at flipkart, lets see...

Very nice MBR. They have tons of archival media and hope they can clean up some of the releases so we can get to hear the great artistes in their full glory. Hoping to pick some up soon. Will post the updates.

I have the SaReGaMa label of Madurai Mani Iyer AIR recording and it is so jaw dropping I was simply blown away!! How can I buy / download the mp3 version of Sri Adi Shankaracharya's Gangashtakam ? I listened to it yesterday i.e. 13th Nov 15 at 6.15am in AIR Telugu sung by a lady singer. The name was announced before the song, so I could not notice.
