It would be great to listen to Jarett's music reinterpreted. One person, whom I would have liked to hear doing this is Branford's erstwhile companion , the late Kenny Kirkland to whom I was indroduced to by this album

While you may not have heard of Mike Mainieri, you’ve almost certainly heard him play; he’s the vibist on Dire Straits’ Love Over Gold album.

Blue Note released this album only once on CD, back in the mid 90s. Then it disappeared forever, except in Japan.
Well, they’ve finally issued a Tone Poet edition and it sounds great. It’s as good as anything Big John Patton did for BN, and also goes really well with the Reuben Wilson album I posted earlier. Gorgeous cover, too.

I love it when the band leader provides equal opportunity to all members to demonstrate their skills. And with a line up like this, he'd better do that!
Noticed Ben Dixon for the first time - plenty of Art Blakey influence there and he's very very good, trying out something tricky in every song.

Always been in my wishlist but never got around to buying it. Good to know about tone poet reissue.
I first heard this album during Rick Beato’s interview with Steve Gadd, and was instantly hooked. While the date is 1981, Corea eschews any electronics and sticks to acoustic piano. Eddie Gomez and Gadd are propulsive together, while Michael Brecker turns his horn into an oxyacetylene torch. Explosive stuff!
Bought the CD of this album decades ago, and did not realize until much later that it was a weird copy! The two tracks with Byrd and Hancock are missing. Instead you have outtakes from the first session.

The electric side of Chick Corea. While Romantic Warrior is my favourite RTF track, No Mystery runs a close second. Al Di Meola has also done an amazing acoustic version on his first World Sinfonia album. Do check out.
