All That Jazz ...

For me "Passing Ships" is a standout album till now, and now after repeated listens of this album, I've come to appreciate its subtle brilliance. Here…restraint interplay between Gilmore ,Bobby & Joe elevated the music, allowing the individuality of Hill's compositions to shine. This approach could have fallen flat in lesser hands, but here, it adds potency.

Sound quality of this blue note tone poet edition is brilliant!

Next up: wish to explore hill’s "Grass Roots" and "Smoke Stack".

"Empyrean Isles" by Herbie Hancock is recorded this thursday June 1964. I admire this Blue Note classic for its bold fusion of hard bop, soulful grooves and love the exceptional interplay between Hancock, Freddie , Ron & Tony…. Standout tracks like "Cantaloupe Island" demonstrate the album's engaging and innovative Jazz

For me the standout track of this album is the exploratory long-form jazz of The Egg..

I'm loving ARTEMIS' new album, Arboresque! This all-female quintet has incredible chemistry and creativity. Very cohesive ,unique voice and style, and the rhythm section is perfectly balanced. The sound quality is top-notch - clear, detailed, and dynamic. Highly recommended! Check it

Chaloff's playing is simply sublime. I like this kind of Sax tone which is full-bodied . His playing is very expressive, with a wonderful sense of nuance and phrasing.

The rhythm section, featuring Sonny Clark on piano, David Allyn on bass, and Philly Joe Jones on drums, is tight and responsive, providing a perfect foundation.

The sound quality is exceptional with expansive soundstage, Chaloff's playing is simply fantastic and his baritone growls through my PAP open baffle speaker Horns as if he is playing in front me.

Yet another Tone poet gem from blue note!

Another great recommendation!
Unlike Gerry Mulligan, Chaloff almost sounds like he’s playing tenor sax. This was the album that first turned me on to him, and I feel it’s his best.
A completely wild character who only lived to 33; he died of cancer a year after making this album.
