Hi

Got a problem with UPA-5 amp.

It is going in protection mode as soon as started and the light on channel 3 blinks.

Channel 3 connects to right rear speaker hung on wall and connected by concealed wiring.

Thanks

Hi Spiro
That doesn't work.

Dear Venkat
There is no reset option for the amp.

Thanks

No it does not.

Can the cause be
1) wires touching
2) reverse of positive negative.

Wires touching somewhere on AVR terminals or on Speaker terminals. Reverse of positive / negative would not be an issue here (it can cause speaker to be out of phase though).

To isolate:

1. See if Amp goes into protection if this speaker is connected to some other terminal (E.g. to center channel)
2. If you have a multimeter, measure resistance on this speaker at cables that terminal near AVR. If this is near Zero, it confirms a short somewhere in speaker cable or at speaker.

totally agree with Net Freak.Either the cable is short somewhere or there is a driver in the speaker which has gone short. The second seems more possible. However pls.disconnect all the speaker cables and connect one by one but ensure that the amp is powered on.The amp will trip as soon as u connect the cable of the speaker which is short. This is how u can find out the root cause of the problem.
