Amp+speakers

Looking for a basic Stereo set up for my bedroom with a budget of ~50K. I have a spare DVD player which I plan to use as a source to start with so that all the money goes into the amp and speaker.

My tastes in music are very eclectic, Rock to Ghazals to New Hindi film to Indian classical.... Wife likes heavy bass so the speakers need to deliver that.

1. Could you guys suggest some options?
2. I have a friend who can carry the amp for me from US. Is that advisable?

Have gone thru many threads in the forum but it's all very confusing. After I hear from y'll, I'll probably audition some options in Mumbai and then weight the possibility of getting the amp from US if the price differential is large.

if you like the bass and youre into classic rock with a bit of indian music too

you cant go wrong with a large bookshelf like the PSB Image B25 paired with a marantz 6000 or 7000 series amp

old stocks for the said speaker can be had for 20-24k i think.
the newer version of this speaker is much more expensive

and since youre in mumbai you should seriously consider this since the PSB India distributer is here in mumbai

while youre there you can check out some NAD amps too if you like

for a 50k budget i would stick to buying from india i think especially the items ive mentioned

Well in Mumbai,you can even check Norge amp + spk as they sound good with gazals too.
