Dear Forum members, I am using a pair of MyRef Rev C V1.3 amplifiers and am mighty satisfied with those. Yesterday my brother came to visit me and after hearing them wanted me to make a amp for him. He presently is using a NAD 302 amplifier for stereo duty.

However his only grouse with MyRef was the bass . Can I please get any suggestion for a amp kit within 5-6 K which has got the clarity and wide soundstage of MyRef but with more bass power and slam.. How is JLS1969 ?? or those Mosfet kits at Eightaudio ??

Thanks in advance.

I made the excellent MyRef years ago and sold it because of the very same reason. Symasym comes to my mind. Please Google it. There are several leads including one on HFV.

Thanks very much Captain. Have you tried the Symasym ?? hope it is better than the MOSFET ones available at Eight Audio...

Thanks again

You can also consider the Peeceebee V4 boards from Shaan currently running the 2nd group buy on the diyaudio.com forum. He is from Kolkatta so you can speak to him.

I am using tpa3116d2 based Amp, and I like it very much.

Has anyone done a comparison bet 3116 & peeceebee v4?

PeeCeeBee v4 is very new (people have just received their boards or are still awaiting them). I know only one person who has completed the build, but unfortunately he doesn't have a 3116/3118 to compare it to.

JLH 69 is a fantastic amp. I'm using it as my primary amp.

Hi Saikat da, how is the bass in that amp compared to MyRef or to the PeeCeeBee if you have heard those..
I have Miniref kit lying around but didn't listen much on it. The board got damaged during multiple time desoldering. I've paid for additional set of TDAs and opamps as well but never received the delivery from the seller. So I lost motivation on the Miniref due to lack of support. However, I must mention that the seller is a knowledgeable person and provided extensive support during my initial build.

I think, after listening to Class A amps, it's hard to go back to any other amp class. (I'm yet to experiment with Peeceebee though).

I don't have any complaints on JLH in any frequency band. The only comparison I could make is against my DIY AmpCamp which is again a Class A amp. I felt highs are marginally better in JLH. In mids and lows both AmpCamp and JLH are almost similar IMHO.

Didn't want to raise any controversy. This is just my honest opinion.

I recently built PeeCeeBee V3 and earlier built a Myref X2 which is bigger brother of Myref rev c v1.3. I can tell you bass in PeeCeeBee is better then the Myref.

Edit: forgot to mention, PeeCeeBee is very capable Amp and am still exploring it but can tell I'm very happy with the amp.

I am using TPA3116D2 board which I bought at Rs 900 from eBay. It has very good sound and good bass. A cheap alternative to those heavy Class A & B circuits.
