I have two Android tablets (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Acer Iconia Tab A200) and I have been trying to get digital audio out of them but haven't had luck so far.

I have a NuForce uDac USB DAC that I connected to these tabs. The power-on LED on uDac lights up but there is no audio coming out of it. Has someone tried playing audio over USB on Android tablets? I read somewhere that you can do it on the iPad. Android seems to be missing drivers that help it identify and load up USB DACs.

Would be great if someone got this to work.

You will be able to get digital out from a Tablet/Phone that's running Jelly Bean. The JB update is being rolled out for the Galaxy Tab 2 (I still haven't got mine) and you should get it soon.

I do know of an FM on gearheads.in who is using a HRT Streamer II with his Samsung Galaxy S3 (running JB) quite successfully. He's using it as a CarPC replacement in his car. The HRT takes its power from the USB port of the phone (it does not have external power supply).

I updated the Galaxy Tab 2 to JellyBean and now audio over USB works perfectly. Awesome!!

Hi Sumeshj,
I too am contemplating using Nuforce udac with my Galaxy Tab 2 (JB).
Since you confirmed that audio over usb is working fine, would you recommend going for the dac or are there any issues ?

that right,I updated the Galaxy Tab 2 to JellyBean and now audio over USB works perfectly. thanks
