Hi Fm's,

Just had a query on Oled display laptops, do they also suffer from pixel burn in's like Oled TV's ?
I do understand that features like pixel shift, dark mode and moving screen savers do mitigate the issue. Also for moderate generic use for coding and casual youtube/movie watching excluding gaming, what is their lifespan ?
Is it advisable to go for Oled laptops or stick to the LCD ones.
The laptop in particular is the 14 inch Acer Swift Neo which seems vfm as of now in comparison to the other brands of similar specs. Thank you.

Rgs,
Nitin

I can't really answer your questions but just to mention I bought a ThinkPad T14 (AMD Gen4) about 1.5 years ago with a 2880x1800 matte OLED and it is beautiful at least in terms of enjoying dark mode UI etc. with my moderate (few days a week) usage on Windows and Linux without any of those pixel shift etc (I don't even think it has those options) the display is still perfect. Like I said these displays do have burn-in risk but so far nothing on mine. I don't do gaming nor consume media, mostly browsing, programming, so display mostly has static content on it on mine.

edit: Oh, almost forgot - I also have an older ASUS ZenBook 13 S OLED with a (little annoying) glossy display, same usage on that, like maybe once a week, static content and that one is also still going strong.

Thanks a lot Vishal for your insightful reply. The screen of the Swift Neo is also glossy and does not have pixel shift feature. The display was great. The Oled matte finish screens are very expensive though as of now.
I guess the normal precautions may need to be taken to prevent pixel burn.

not sure about this display thing . But I keep reading that OLED and LED in general is bad for the eyes . Now since everything is LED , going for the lesser evil is always better . Do check for eyesafe certification nevertheless .
