Hi All,

I am thinking about setting up a temporary stereo setup using my Tripath amp (which I brought with me from India :ohyeah:) and a used bookshelf speaker.

I have been checking the craiglist and audiogon for a while.
Craiglist generally has used speaker options of the consumer brands and very vintage stuff. Audiogon has some very good options in audiophile brands and the condition of the items are also good. I have set my mind upon buying a used speaker pair from Audiogon. But the problem is that I have never used this site before and would like to get some first hand info about buying stuff from Audiogon and it's reliability.

Feedback from the fellow members who have used this site would be highly appreciated. I am looking for a speaker with max $200 price.

Thanks!

I have bought many amps and a preamp from Audiogon, never had a problem. I will not hesitate to buy from there. I get it done through my sons and pick it up there when I travel to the US. AUdiogon is much better geared up to ship to other locations and accept payment via Paypal. Craigslist needs a local guy to go and check it out physically and pay cash most of the time. I have bought various things from craigslist NY too, since my sons live there, they dont have a feedback system like EBay and Audiogon. I have also bought from Audiocircle, equally good as Audiogon.

Thanks for your valuable feedback GeorgeO.

For me too, Audiogon sounds like a safer bet. And their transparent shipping calculator is also quite helpful in determining the final cost.

Now, I will have to gear up and keep a firm eye on the everyday deals.

Today I saw a deal on the local craiglist for a KEF Q90 speaker. Picked it up as soon as possible.
Now, enjoying it to the fullest, paired with my little Sure Electronics T-Amp.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
