In 1980s and early 1990s when we had only Ambassodor and Padmini cars on our roads, i remember we used to install speakers in aluminum vessels /bogonas ..... Now i was wondering if there would any improvement in SQ if we do the same ??? Did anyone try this ??

A lot depends on the speaker casing. I don't know exact theory behind it. But I am sure that a knowledgeable person can tweak the casing to get the best desired effect.

It is really a bad idea to put a modern day car speaker in a HT speaker enclosure. They will perform far worse as they are designed to be installed in specific car locations. It is the location of the speakers that play big difference in sound stage and performance. How close / far the tweeters placed to midbass... is tweeter on axis or off axis..is midbass close to floor or high up in the door..these are the factors that play big part in car audio.

Subwoofers on the other hand will benefit from enclosure. A properly designed enclosure makes a very big difference there.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
