Hi Guys,
I am thinking to go for Airtel HD DTH...Since i am from kerala, could you please suggest some pack? monthly or anual? Also do i need to opt extra for the HD channels? or is it part of any of the packages?

You can check with their site for package information.

They have seperate HD package or you can select the individul HD channels at cost of 10-15 rs per month.

Airtel provides 9 channels for Rs 81 pm and ESPN and star sports separately for additional cost.
PS The customer service is lousy had to follow up continuously for a week nobody knew what was happening. This was for my 2nd connection.
My friend had similar experience when he went for an upgrade.

Dude that i already know and seen...I am looking for views of some one who is already using it....

Well....I'm using Airtel HD-DVR connection. What's your question ?

- Airtel provides lot of packs for South Users. You can visit their site for more details on pack. However most of the packs are not displayed on website, instead they are available under customer self-care portal.
- Currently Airtel is providing 14 HD channels. They have a HD Plus pack in which there were 10 channels earlier. However they have removed UTV Stars HD from their platform. So it's 9 HD channels now for Rs. 89 along with SD version of UTV Stars.
- They have 3 Sports HD channels (All the available Sports HD - ESPN HD, StarCricket HD, ESPN HD) at Rs. 75.
- Last night, Airtel added Zee Cinema HD as well and last week they had added Zee TV HD. Airtel is yet to upgrade their HD packages. As of now, both these Zee HD channels are available as seperate top-up.
- There are 2 special packages:
1. Magnum Standard SD at Rs. 552 per month:- includes all the SD channels, except PayPerView movies channels, SuperHitz, StarGold Hitz and all the iServices (interactive services of Airtel).
2. Magnum Standard HD at Rs. 580 per month:- includes all the SD and HD channels, except PayPerView movies channels, SuperHitz, StarGold Hitz and all the iServices (interactive services of Airtel).

** Both the above packages have one big advantage despite huge prices. You don't need to worry about any new channel. All the upcoming channels will be added in the package without any increase in package price. I'm using Magnum HD, so thought of providing this info.

Man i am not able to see this Magnum Standard packages.....where are they listed?

the worst after sales service,i do not have experience with other DTH service providers, otherwise everybody has praise for Tata Sky

+1 for Tata Sky. I've tried a few - Dish, Sun, Videocon (parents stay with me so multiple TV sets) and Tata Sky is the best in terms of service.

You may be right. But you know how a customer is treated in India !!
Airtel's level-1 customer service is definitely worst. These customer care guys are from some third party company, who are not even updated with the relevant info well in time. Hence customer whoever calls to them has to suffer.
However, if you contact their senior CC persons or send an email to Airtel_Presense, they seem to be always helpful !!

Just compare the count of channels and price of packages as well. Not to mention, a customer should always check Audio and Video quality whenever he/she opts for a DTH connection, because it varies at each DTH level.

Yeah, you can say there is a praise for TataSky...(But who are those...so called loyal customer of Tata ? I have few friends who have Tata Sky also, they think now a days Tata has gone worse in terms of their incapability of adding new channels and due to worst Audio-video on most of the channels. yet it depends becasue it's a matter of choice what kind of satisfaction you want. Many customers don't even realize this !!
No doubt Airtel is also trying to compete TataSky by butchering Audio quality on most of the channels.)

got the STB with the TV and hence using it.

HD performance was very gud for 2 months that i subscribed to them, volume sucks though! u need to turn the volume up considerably and when u switch channel its a nuisance!

i din try oder service providers but Airtel seems to be pretty ok, nothing that im very excited abt.

There was a 'low volume' problem on HD channels earlier.
However this problem seems to be resolved now with the latest firmware 'Release 402' on all HD-STB (Keon and Huawei make).
Which version of software your HD-STB has ?

Guys, i contacted the customer care guys of Airtel, for HDR and Magnum package for 12 months, they said some th ing around 10000+...

Is that correct? If any one has bought a HDR connection recently, please share the info here.....

Ridiculously expensive. TataSky annual megalite pack with 9 HD channels is Rs. 5500. It also is protected from price rise for the entire year plus all new channels are automatically added. Does not include Sun Tv channels; Sun channels are available in Mega pack for Rs. 6000.

Something is not right here.

I just got Magnum package activated on both my HD boxes. It comes to around 550+230 (incl of taxes) and I get to see all the SD and HD channels, except 158 and 159 (star hits or some such channels). Happy with the quality after the recent update. Should work out to around 9k+ for an year.

is the HDR is too costly? in the website it is showing 5990 and South Ultra Pack @Rs.486/month...so this 5990 is the cost of hdr....?

I am assuming by hdr you mean hd recorder which Idon't have. Mine is only HD. Costs around 2400. They have some offers for new customers.

In my case Airtel has been seriously good and I believe that you can go for it but for me as a Delhi subscriber the best HD channels which are sports ones are not less than Rs 40 per month. Don't know much about Kerala but they must be in the same range.
