Hi all,

I m thinking to order Jamo S 426 HCS 3 from amazon.com.. Whats the procedure and how to make the payment and other things..

Waiting for your suggestions.

Karthik

Are you talking about Amazon.com (which is the US site) or Amazon.in (which is the Amazon India site)?

In both cases, you will need to create a user ID with password and also use a credit card for the purchase.

--- Buying ---
1. Create an account with Amazon.com
2. Select the items you want and place them in the shopping cart
3. Proceed to checkout
4. You will need a credit card that is valid internationally - debit cards, virtual credit cards, netbanking, paypal, etc. does not work on Amazon.
5. Amazon will charge you for base price, shipping cost and levy an "Import Duty Deposit"
6. The total will be charged to your CC
7. Banks will charge a 3.5% surcharge because it is a forex txn.

--- Shipping ---
1. Amazon will ship the items via UPS, DHL, Aramex or other such reputed carriers
2. You will get a tracking number.

--- Customs clearance ---
1. The carrier company will clear the customs for you.
2. Since "Import Fees Deposit" is collected upfront from you, you don't have to pay a thing.
3. If import duty is more than what is collected from you, Amazon will bear the excess.
4. If the import duty is less, the remaining balance will be refunded to you (within 60 days)

Hope this helps. If you have other specifics to know, just shout.

In the past I've tried to order headphones from Amazon.com and after adding it to my cart proceeded to payment and I get a message that this item cannot be shipped to your detestation/India. I understand that I may get it shipped thru aramex, shopnship, borderlinx but how to get direct shipping from Amazon.com

Have I been doing something wrong ?

Headphones are much smaller item compared to speakers/AVR etc

**EDIT**

Just Added a headphone it actually lets me make a purchase with direct shipping from Amazon.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused

Not all the items (regardless of the size) are eligible to be shipped to India thru Amazon.com site. What you can do is download this plugin if you have google chrome and click this button to try and see whether the selected item can be shipped to India or not. Simple :)

Usually, only the items that are sold and shipped by Amazon, are eligible for AmazonGlobal delivery. There are exceptions sometimes. The plugin mentioned by maniraj is very useful though it works on Google Chrome only.

I received the Panasonic BDP free with my ST50. It is an Indian region C player originally. I made it region free via firmware update from firmwareinfo.com. The MRP of the player is 12,999.

I also new to amazon shipping to India.
However please check below link,
AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping Now in India; Free Shipping for Purchases Above $ 125
The free shipping for orders over $125 does not apply to large/oversize items. If you buy small items such as DVDs, BDs, Vinyl, small electronics, batteries, phones, etc., the order may qualify for free shipping. Secondly the Items must be eligible for the AmazonGlobal Program and sold by Amazon.com, i.e., no 3rd party seller items qualify.

Check the following: Amazon.com Help: About FREE AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping

I have used Amazon US (when I was based in the US) and Amazon Germany as well as Amazon UK (when I was based in Belgium). I can easily recommend all three for excellent service and a hassle free transaction.

If you are using Amazon germany (amazon.de), it might be a good idea to use the 'google translate' option to make sure you don't make any mistakes.

If you are buying from any of the Amazon Europe countries (UK and Germany are the most popular), you will also get a VAT refund (in the range of 15-20%).

Generally, my experience has been that the US site offers the best price for electronic items. However shipping charges will be greater. In the end, for most electronic items, US price + shipping = Europe price (including VAT discount) + shipping. So buy from wherever you are more comfortable.

Best,
APK

Amazon.com is offering free shipping on projectors as well. This would be my first time ordering from US. Should i go ahead ?
I hope they deliver it safely.Packing and all is good?
