I was looking for a media player upto 9k on eBay and i pretty much finalized the Asus O!play mini plus. Then I came across the feature packed Egreat S6 pro, which I'm very tempted to buy. It's cheap too, costs only 6k.Problem is I've never heard of the brand, also there are absolutely zero reviews of it on the internet.
So my question to you is should I go ahead and take this tiny risk or should I stick with Asus?
Here's the link...
Egreat R6S Pro 1080p Wifi 3D Android HD Player Full HD USB3.0 Dolby DTH 7.1 | eBay

Egreat is a good known brand. Almost all media players are from China. Other good brands to look for are himedia, kaiboer, measy etc. All of them have more or less the same PQ.

Between Egreat R6S Pro and KAIBOER K660i,which do you think is better?
Ability to store an internal hdd is not important.

Both use the same chipset and so performance wise they should be equal. Kaiboer is android model and you can fix internal hdd. It also has built-in wifi where as with egreat, usb dongle need to be purchased. So I think Kaiboer makes more sense. Check the two personally if possible.

Both are android 2.2 based and both have built-in wi-fi.Only difference is ability to store an internal hdd.

Honestly, the modules nowadays are such that its the basic chip set that sets the standard. Never though I'd say this but, thank God for China. Prices have come down, and quality is decent-to-good depending on the brand that you look at.
I use the Kaiboer HD1055 plus (Realtelk 1055 chip based player), with a 1TB drive for HD content and such on a daily basis. Worked well so far, brilliant picture quality with my 40" LED (Baraka, Samsara, etc. in 1080p are a visual treat). More than just decent audio quality, but prefer to use my Laptop/ DAC based setup for serious listening. That said, do miss the networking ability though.

Any of these players nowadays should have a few good years of enjoyable usage in them. It is YOUR budget and needs ;).

Cheers!

What ever player you purchase, u just need to check the warranty with the dealer. Mostly all the players are sold with dealer warranty.

i can say for this
HDD Media Player VGA FULL 1080P HDMI SD/USB MKV FLV RM RMVB | eBay

..using very very roughly..never had a problem since last 2 years..

I don't know if you can find them on eBay etc or not, but if you can, look for Himedia or HDVision. Much better build and much better QC on these players compared to all other mentioned in this thread so far.

Yesterday I booted raspberry pi-b with 16GB SD card installed Raspbmc. It was able to play Full HD as well as connect all avialable usb storage. I used it with wired LAN. It was good choice considering price
raspberry pi Rs 2900/-
16GB SD card 928/-
4 port powered USB hub 1050/-
Usb Keyboard and mouse 700/-
Cables 500/-
Software free

Only problem I faced is card could be 32GB for hd playback as it buffers a lot.

HDVision isn't available on eBay.Is Measy a well known brand?
Till now I've shortlisted three players Kaiboer K660i,Egreat R160s and Measy X5a.

Stay clear of Measy. No one knows where and by whom it is made. Most likely OEM stuff.

Look at the link Prosenjit gave. Himedia is good.

Chinese brands are using same Realtek chip sets.. So Audio/Video quality looks same..

That's not true. Many of them are based on Arm Cortex chips. Some use Sigma design chips.

Also, just because many of them use the same chipset, they all don't become equal. You need to use a few to understand the difference.

Has anybody actually used Kaiboer products ? I wanted to get K3 model (yes the one which got 5 stars from AV Max) but seems am late.. it is out of stock..

so the questions are :
* How is Kaiboer K660i ?
* Is it worth 9K ? (K3 was 5k)
* How does it compare with other 9 to 10 K products by other brands ?
* and If i don't need 3D, am i paying extra for something i don't want OR given the features of the product (great connectivity, external antenna etc) is it still worth it ?
* Storage is SATA internal hard drive (Does it mean I can't attach external hard disk (usb powered)

Thanks

I bought a GK-HD160 media player (GIEC manufacturer) from Dealextreme (about $70).
It has the chipset RealTek 1185DD, can handle 1080p smoothly, has one HDMI 1.3 output and can be connected to local network or Internet (RJ45).
So far it is working great. Before it, I used to play movies on TV with a notebook and I thought it was great, but after playing some 1080p with the media player, I don't have plans to use the notebook anymore.
Currently, one problem with this media player is that it has some Chinese menus (mainly those Chinese TV stream providers). I still don't update its firmware.
Anyway, I wrote a 1080p media player GK-HD160 review about it. There you can find the features and problems detailed.

I brought a 1080p media player from Tinydeal.com at 37$...free shipping + didnt have to pay any custom duties also :)...the player is working nicely....recognizing all formats including flv files downloaded from YouTube.

However this can only be used to play your media using USB. It does not have any Wifi or net surfing capabilities.
