Saw the Zee TV broadcast .... shocking ... pathetic!
Democracy is a no-go in here, no way ... nothing can be set right this way!

I am anguished to read this story -very disheartening.

Officers who failed to do their duty and all those who were insensitive to this heinous crime should be sacked. Laws should be enacted such that people who help accident or crime victims by admitting them in hospital or taking them to police station should not be bothered further in the name of investigation. Only then more people will openly come forward to save victims. 'All' rape cases should be tried in special fast track courts to close them faster. IPC should be revised by intensifying the punishment of such horrific crimes. All such criminals should be shamed in public.

No matter what efforts are taken, to witness a true change, the attitude of men should change from the root. The change has to come from within, it must start from our home- in the way we treat the women in our families.

Having said that we can say that Mumbai is not too far from Delhi- in both crimes committed against women and insensitivity of public towards victims.

I personally am ashamed to be a member of this species entirely.
We are heinous, barbaric cancer to this planet and when we go, we're gonna end up taking the planet with us.
We fight over such trivial small things without ever thinking of how miraculous life is on this tiny planet in infinite space.

I strongly believe we are the only species that evolved wrongly and screwing up the planet and other living creatures big time. We are the most insecure & selfish lot, who would go to any length to satisfy our urges without worrying about consequences. Homo sapiens do not deserve their place on this planet!

I think this has been a rude awakening for all of us. Its clear to see that apart from the few islands of "decency" - brought about by education or whatever - we are still far behind when it comes to basic rights. This event has been a revelation to the nation on what we are and what we have to achieve. Not going to comment on the laws because whats the point when the people who are to implement them are still trapped in their own outdated ways.

Its a living hell for our girls if they can't feel safe. What is the worth of all the progress in our economy if our society can't protect our women and children. Men need not feel threatened when women make strides forward socially. Too many men have formed their opinions on women based on stereotypes.

All rapists should get death sentence. Including the so called juvenile.

Juvenile means a person not yet achieved sexual maturity..if he can rape..isn't he ALREADYbeyond this.

His crime is mature and pre-meditated. Nothing juvenile about it... he must be tried like an adult.

Now we know the guru of these rapist deciples. Asaram bapu. Kids learned rape lessons from master of rape. Asaram bapu.

See how violent he gets to protect his deciples? By the end of the day asaram bapu knows how to use the victim's publicity to his marketing. What a shame!

I second that..

What you have said is a too big thing to understand for majority of public (unfortunately) with belittled mindsets. If they had the time & virtue to understand & think over this thing, things like what happened would be non-existent.
Its time to stop going blah blah about our culture & all that (***t) and really do something that actually does something better to this society which is totally barbarian as of now.

Agreed. After showing such barbarity he deserves no mercy. Also we all know how reliable are the school certificate age in govt. schools.

I am sure that they get it 100%. Because even reading about this kind of barbarity makes a human lower shoulders with shock and shame! This is shame to all humans.

This will be considered as rarest if rare cases and will execute all.

I wish all should be executed publicly. With full media live coverage. This can act as a preventive action against further crimes.

Respecting everyone irrespective of caste, creed, sex or position should be built in our hearts and souls and be part of our ethos.

Culture does not mean puja, ibadat or prayers but to respect the feminine and masculine aspect of the human race. By respect I mean that every person should feel safe in public places and be fearless in doing anything appropriate publicly. We should get to a point where we feel safe going and doing anything that we want to do to achieve things in life.

How many of us can honestly say that we do not ogle at women, or pass an inappropriate comment or behave inappropriately? How many women can say that they have not passed some inappropriate comments on men on public roads? And I certainly know that many women also do not dress appropriately and do flame some elements in the society to behave inappropriately.

Carrying fancy mobiles, being on social networking sites, talking in English or acting cool does not take away the fact that we are still very much rooted to our cultural past (which is why we still have arranged marriages in India and our women still wear sindoor or people still wear the purdah etc... to give a few examples...)

Doing candle marches, or putting inflamed statements, or doing a publicity broaha is not going to help except the people who are doing such stunts! For they get good mileage out of all this. I fail to understand how this helps the victims? Is anything concrete being done about this? Or are they just waiting for the next sensational news so that this one can be pushed to the back burner?

Just my personal views, no wish to offend anyone here.

Very correct!
Anna Hazare - Lokpal Bill --> Ponty Chadha --> Delhi Gangrape --> Beheading episode ..... The push-back is quite evident in media. It is NEW news which everyone is waiting for ... the older ones lose focus and follow-up actions. This is WHAT, and WHY the Political class wins in the end!

.

This help victims many ways.

1) Victims will have a feeling that they are not living in a totally animal world, at least there are some people are there to shout (at least).

2) Humans are not just rational beings. They have emotions, morality etc... Sometimes it comes out. This outrage help victims to strengthen their call for justice. (internally and externally)

3) Public response is a variable which court consider (maybe unconsciously). A call for maximum punishment to rapists by the masses will have an effect. If it shown in the road, it have better effect.

Protesters may use different methods. What's benefit you think earn from being inactive? Or by demoralising the activists by mentioning random weird excuses? Are you for rapists?

FYI: This is what the juvenile did,

Please share it if you have human heart.

I apologise to Joyous if I have offended his sentiments in any way.

This was just my opinion and should be taken as such.

The answer we all know is very simple, get the law and order in place and all major cases to be finalized with a time frame of one year, be it the more fast track if need be, etc.

It is the politicians, police and other government officials which need to be punished to a extent for whatever major wrong happens to a common person because often goverment is not able to protect us. If this rule and other ideas come in force then things are likely to get alright big time, in-fact much sooner then later.

The punishment should be very strong even if the culprit is under or over age.

Holy mother of god, look at this nonsense,

Manohar Lal Sharma, a 56-year-old Supreme Court advocate, said the victim's friend was responsible for the attack as the couple should not have ventured out on the streets at night.

He further went on to say that he never heard of a respectable woman being raped in the country.

Speaking to The Independent, Manohar said: 'I have not seen a single incident or example of rape with a respected lady. Even an underworld don would not like to touch a girl with respect.'

Blaming the victim's friend, Manohar told The New York Times: 'This all happened because of the lust of the boy. This is the boy who should be hanged. He's responsible for everything. He should be punished.'

In an interview with Bloomberg, Manohar was quoted saying that he was 'confident that the men will be proved innocent because there are a number of problems with the police investigation.'

...I am absolutely speechless, I don't know what to say other than the country is in shambles because of lawyers like this. The lawyer should be tossed into a bottomless pit along with the rest of those savages who infest this nation.

'I have not seen a single incident or example of rape with a respected lady. Even an underworld don would not like to touch a girl with respect.'

Really?
Really?
really?
So does that mean he knows underworld dons? "A girl with respect?"

These people constitute to moronic elements of the society. These are pests. Bar council barred advocates from appearing on this case, a right gesture from bar council. but this person spoiled the spirit and stood up like a proud shiteater.

I guess he a lawyer with no case, and trying to get maximum out of publicity of the incident.
