Audio Lag in Receiver from Amazon firestick and Airtel Xstream via optical

I have an old Onkyo Av receiver which has no hdmi inputs. Hence i connected it via optical to my TCL tv. Unfortunately i am experiencing audio lag issues which is ruining my movie experiences. Amzon firestick has audio lag adjustments but doesnt seem to work well. Initially i thought it is issue with firestick but got similar experience when i connected airtel xstream box as well. Any help in this will be well appreciated.
