Audiolab 8200cd in mumbai??

While most CD players are designed purely for CD playback, the award winning 8200CD has been created with flexibility firmly in mind. The DAC (Digital-to-Analogue Converter) is the cornerstone of their design, which is why Audiolab has chosen the Sabre 32-bit audio DAC from ESS Technology to carry out D-to-A conversion.

Comprised of over 1700 components using precision SMT manufacturing on a 4 layer PCB, the Audiolab 8200CD is the most advanced electronic design in Audiolabs impressive history.
There. That's the rest of the test from the product web page. Go there to read the specs and see the other tabs. As he's already decided that he wants one, chirag1165 has probably read it already.

Looks like a very desirable machine, and I can admit to having desired it. I do suspect that, apart from playing CDs, its DAC would have been good for my Squeezebox. Seems good value for money too --- even though I settled for something second-user at a much lower budget.

Sorry not to have an answer to the opening question. Looking forward to the review, though :)

Have you auditioned this CD player or do you want to buy it based on all the reviews on the net ?

I am using an Audiolab 8200. You are welcome to visit for a listen. I went the same way you did. Bought it blind, almost new from an FM. I use the CD and DAC via USB. There is a difference in sound between both to my ears. Cables also make a lot of difference to the sound. It's a great player but lots to explore and experiment before you settle on how you like to hear your music.

50k I think, don't remember. Was almost a year ago. From an FM. I paid pretty much the full price although it was slightly used. Reason being it is not available in India and the FM had taken the trouble to bring it in.
